Hey, here's my newest benchmark from aquamark3!
I know it's not nearly as high as some of you Athlon 64 systems and 9800XT's but for my system i'd say it's pretty good
check out the overclockage :01:
while running the benchmark, my cpu was at 41C

There is something fishy with your system, dude.

Did you make sure to set AA and AF in BOTH Direct 3d AND Open GL to "application controlled" BEFORE running the benchmark?

See This page for a good service config (http://www.tweakhound.com/xp/xptweaks/supertweaks6.htm)

Do you have an untweaked system? In other words, you might want to save the following as a .reg file and merge it, it might speed things up a bit:

Kai:

right click on the desktop>properties>settings>advanced>ATi 3d tabs (there might be one for open GL and one for Direct 3d, or there might be two different tabs, depending on your driver)

In both Direct 3d and Open GL select "Application controlled" for AA and AF. That way when the benchmark is run you don't get a lower score due to your settings.

Also disable "always off" vertical sync when benchmarking in both Open GL and Direct 3d.

Went to that and hit custom settings, the AF and AA were already set right but I changed the vertical sync to always off, will run another bench and see if it makes any difference
thanks, anything else i can do to improve scores?

Yeah, try to disable as many services as possible. I gave you a link above to a list of services that you need versus those that you do not.

Edit: your aquamark3 link is dead??

MAJOR WARNING!!!

if u have been using your comp for an extensive period of time (6+ months) and u disable indexing service thru the process manager, you WILL suffer from MASSIVE data corruption. it can be recovered, but only by plugging your hard drive into another comp with XP.

i keep indexing running on my drive, but disabled it on all physical drives. if the ricess itself is disabled, any currently indexed items will be corrupted.

only disable indexing if you installed windows XP recently (a week ago or earlier)

I installed XP pro like a month or so ago, but I think I'm fine anyway
@adam - that reg code you gave me, I can just paste that in notepad, save as ***.reg and then run it, no risks right?

That's right! All those entries are totally safe. You can even google them to learn more about what each of them do.

Open notepad, copy/paste then save as a .reg file (probably to the desktop).

Double click, it should ask you if you want to merge the data, and you say yes and reboot.

I am not so sure that this is the case. I highly doubt it actually.

Indexing Service
This service always has been a major resource hog. I NEVER recommend having this service enabled. Remove the function via the "Add / Remove Programs" icon in the control panel (Windows Setup Programs). It uses about 500 K to 2 MB in an idle state, not to mention the amount of memory and CPU resources it takes to INDEX the drives. I have had people (and witnessed it on other people's computers) report to me that the Indexing Service sometimes starts up EVEN while the system is NOT idle... as in the middle of a game. You may feel, as I do, that this is unacceptable. If your computer suddenly seems "sluggish," Indexing Service is usually the cause of it.

i had to move my hdd to another comp after disabling indexing in order to recover the lost data thru the other comp's disk check. then i booted off my HDD and reenabled indexing. i think its only an issue on HDDS greater that 137 which were using indexing and then were disabled lol. anyhow thi is from personal experience.

just be safe.

what u can do is disable it temporarily (for the benchmark) and reenable it before shitting down.

alright, that's what I thought you meant adam, thanks!
I tried all that and it didn't raise my scores all that much, maybe 100-150 points tops
when i the best time to bench your comp? I always restart mine, and then once it is fully booted, wait 5 mins and run the bench, is that the best time?
I figure if you run the test after your comp's been on a while, you'll most likly have a few unwanted processes running and stuff like that

press alt-ctrl-del and you can just close any un-needed processes. also close ur virus scanner and firewall and other programs which arent needed for the computer to run the benchmark.
