I remember the fight between Bernard "Executioner" Hopkins and Felix "Tito" Trinidad in Felix's homeland of Puerto Rico.

In the prefight hype, Hopkins and Trinidad are arguing and Hopkins grabs the Puerto Rican flag and throws it down touching off a riot that he had to fight his way out of.

With Felix being the favorite and a 99.9% crowd of spectators chanting for the "Executioner" to be executed, Bernard pulls off the unthinkable.

The ex-convict from north Philly not only beats Trinidad, but dominates him like no one ever has by KOing Felix (his first btw) in front off his hometown.

1996 Spanish Grand Prix when Michael Schumacher totally outclassed the field, winning the race with the Ferrari, which, at that time, was a dog of a car

1997 Grand Prix at Jerez (i think) - the championship has gone down to the wire and Villeneuve and Schumacher are neck and neck, then in a moment of madness Schumacher tries to take Villeneuve off the track, he wrecks his own car but Villeneuve continues on to win the championship - Villeneuve moves to BAR and no one cares about him any more and Schumacher becomes known as the most dominant driver ever

I have a game on tape of when Allen Iverson was playing for Georgetown against Villanova.

Iverson was absolutely demolishing 'Nova and on play he fouled hard but still scored.

The commentater said, "That's one tough monkey". :(

World Cup '86

Contrary to the dismal spell of the 1982 this is the year when Maradona would make his mark. The place was the Aztec stadium in Mexico and in the very first match mardona would score a spectacular goal thus ensuring that he was the player to watch. The first round was a relatively easy phase to the Argentine squad reinforced with the skillful Maradona at his prime. The team easily progressed to the knockout phase.

The most talked about match against England was one that was to be overshadowed by the Falkland's war. The rivalary was unparralled and there was a great pressure not to politicize the match but obviously to no avail. It is in this match that Maradona would cheat to score the infamous goal which was forever to be known as the Hand of God or 'la mano de Dios'. To Argentina's advantage neither the referee nor the assistant could see what appeared to be obvious given Maradona's height.

Greatest sports moments, phew there are many...
But one to remember was a steal from MJ on Karl Malone to make the winning points in the NBA Final Bulls vs Jazz :)

Kirk Gibson

Oct 15, 1988

Hit the game winning 9th inning homerun off Dennis Eckersly off his only working leg.

THE CALL
"Gibson . . . swings! And a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5-4! I don't believe what I just saw! . . . I don't believe what I just saw!" -- Jack Buck, CBS Radio.

I couldn't either, it was surreal. I still can picture us all standing around the TV ready to go out and party once the Game was over.

Tommie Smith at the 1968 Mexico Olympics. A brave man making his stand on the big stage.

I'm quite surprised no-one has mentioned the 1985 European Cup final at the Heyssel Stadium. That shocked me!!

Bradford.

Hillsborough.

Ayrton Senna crashing and his subsequent death.

Marc Vivian Foe collapsing on the field and his death.

The Lakers "Three-peat" of the NBA championships :D

also... Pete Sampras' game in Australia when he was down by 2 sets to love, just after his coach died, and someone in the crowd shouted "do it for (dont know what the name of the coach was)"... Sampras played the rest of the game crying, and won the game in 5 sets... one of the most amazing comebacks in tennis history.
