hi, when i open my WMP, if i click on file then 'open', a box appears, at the bottom of this box it says 'file name' when i click on this, a drop down box appears with a list of things which i have listened to or viewed even though those files may no longer exist on my h/d. how do i erase all that stuff and even more importantly how do i make sure it isnt stored there in the first place. thank you

If you have windows xp you can use the remove history option in internet explorer, and you could also use Evidence Eliminator

i dont really use it anymore but i think the options you're looking for are at 'tools' > 'options' > 'privacy'

you should be able to clear history and set it up so it does'nt save anymore info, uncheck boxes to retrieve media info etc

For deleting files you should check out Eraser (http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/eraser).

Ah...been watching pornos eh? Well, I've had my fair experience and I use Window Washer to clear all my tracks, it clears my media players as well as lots of others.

i have d/l a version of evidence eliminator yesterday from overnet lite, and today it crashed and wanted to connect to the net, so i allowed it to through sygate firewall. when i was connected a web page popped up and said, this is your ip address ***** (ip address was displayed) and you are connected through .... and gave details of my country and isp. it then went on to say im in trouble for using an illegal version of evidence eliminator. i would just like your thoughts please.

I had something similar ;)

I just ignored it, uninstalled it

When i want to use it i reinstall, use it & remove it (blocked internet access for it as well)

Couldn't say for definite that this is the same problem but i have no problems now :D

hi, there is an option in evidence eliminator, under the windows tab - 'windows swap file' - windows swap file provides vitual memory and is often filled with hidden evidence of all kinds.
(check box) eliminate swap file (recommended)

is it a good idea to check that box?
