I've been away for a week, come back and my kazaa freezes on opening. This is a common problem, ive read loads of posts and all anyone says is reinstall or try another version.

NOTHING has worked for anyone, on this forum and on others.

Can someone please explain why this has started happening alot over the last week and how to solve it, without any patronising reinstall instructions.

first try puting all your files from sharedfolder to a temp and see if this is still happening then let me know :lol:

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, my shared folder is empty as is the db folder, as suggested in other posts. Ive run adaware, search and destroy, virus check, comps is fully up to date and I havnt changed anything recently.

i don't know about your othre post boss, i'm going by this one.

please uninstall, delete db folder, delete shared folder

go to program folder and delete any kazaa folder you see then reinstall with new registry keys and tell me what you get

boss you said you uninstalled you did not say anything about manually removing the any kazaa folder from program folder because uninstall does not do it.

second did you do them in the order i asked???

you wanna fix this or do you wanna get ticked at me??

just trying to help let me know

I have previously tried uninstalling, and deleting any trace of kazaa from the directories and from the registry. It still doesnt work. As I said, there have been about 10 posts with this problem, no one has suggested anything different from deleting and reinstalling and that has never worked...

Win XP, fully updated. But as I have said, looking at this forum and at many others, loads and loads of people are having this same exact problem which has started only during the last week. Therefore, it can't be something to do with our individual operating systems!

no boss first of all i have not seen anybody else except for maybe 2 people with the same problem.

second this is not a kazaa problem.

it has to do with your enviroment, belive me i've been dealing with this for a very long time.

the program does not just change unless you got a virus that changed it.

if you have xp do an os repair and see if that helps

Ok, so I've installed the latest xp sp2 that I got hold of, so I guess I can't be more up do date and that also should have reapired my windows. Also updated and run norton antivirus, adaware and spybot search and destroy, uninstalled and removed all traces of kazaa and reinstalled kazaa lite 2.4.3 and it still hangs up on opening!

Not to argue but I have seen a fair few people with this happening within the last week in other forums, and yes its probably something to do with a bug or virus, but what else am i supposed to do!

@timdh5:
Download Spybot - Search & Destroy, go to Tools -> Processes and copy down everything you see there here.

@MM:
You on moderation or something, why'd you have to pull out the MM 1.0 account?

What was the old one then, MM 0.0 lol? :ninja:

I've noticed something strange happening, when kazaa crashes and I end process when not responding, it sends spoolsv.exe to maximum cpu usage and huge mem usage. not sure if that means anything. Heres the process list;

First thing I recommend you do is get rid of Real, Norton, and Systemac. There's much better alternatives out there.

Try again and see what happens..

I believe he is implying to uninstall them, not shut down the processes.

:D sometime program works in the background and u even wont know

i had the same problem has u ,if u had earlier versions of kazaa or klite.then thats ur problem.i formatted my pc and it worked ,but for u ,try good antivirus and adware ,and spyboot, or even window washer might help to clean up.

if this doesnt fix it then ur rejistry is corrupt, get system mechanic and fix ur registry :01:

Have you tried "system restore" back to a time when you knew KL was working?

I know it's been suggested before but do try the "repair" option on your XP installation disk - this can untie some knots that may have crept into your system.

:clap: welcome back MM (1.0 or the other!!)

if its working in safe mode then its your enviroment (something is mixing right with klite)

Got a strong feeling that it might have been the latest windows automatic update, as it updated as soon as I got back from holiday, then kazaa wouldnt work. As other people are having the same problems at the same time is sounds likely.

So what are the best alternatives to real, norton and symantec? not sure what to change.

odd thing thou... my boys connection works fine with cable.

could it be my DSL, the port #(1214) or, this suddan

Couldnt handle it anymore so i formatted and reinstalled windows, now everything works great! nice and fast. Decided to go for avg antivirus instead of norton, not sure if its as good but it must be better having one process running compared to nortons twenty.

You could be right there bro, I had the same problem when my daughter clicked ok for an update from wondows and the mofo's installed that piece of crap sp2 on my pc. Took me a week to get the mofo back out. this was on the german xp version. :(

I thought SP2 was still in Beta phase (Microcrud say it's at RC1 status) so I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole!

PS Tensegg - wanna swap teams? The golf courses's are better where your mob play and I think Leeds are on their way to the conference (that's my reward for 48 years of unquestioning loyalty)!
