While playing Alice I had some problems - crash to desktop, followed by white screen and general system freeze. The event viewer showed this :

The driver ati2dvag for the display device \Device\Video0 got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates a problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. Please check with your hardware device vendor for any driver updates.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

and pointed me to here. (http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/winxp/radeonwdm-xp.html?type=xp%2526prodType=graphic%25A1%25C7=productsXPdriver%2526submit.x=11%2526submit.y=10&reason=00) This update applies to a lot of cards, but none of them were the "mobility" version. The ATI site told me to get notebook video drivers from the HP site, which gave me this. (http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/hpcpqnk/us/locate/64_5599.html#5) So my question is : what the ? One site shows a brandnew driver which I'm not sure works on my card, the other driver I have already.

Which is the latest driver for a Mobility Radeon 7000 anyway ?

I would try installing the one that ati told you to install, some video cards work better with twecks that were made to the drivers by the people that sell them on there equipment, do you have an hp computer. I usually will install the dell driver for my video card as apposed to the drive on the video cards web site, it seems to work better for me that way.

Thanks, that's what I figured. Problem is, the newest driver is the one that screwed up in the first place.

Oh well, let's just hope it was a one-off fluke :)
