Get the DirectX 9 Redistribution (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=8510F9C3-1679-482B-B903-2352B58AF584&displaylang=en) and that'll give you all the needed files for all operating systems (9x-XP) :)
That was what i got and it worked just fine for me

Have a look in "Windows/Downloaded Installations" or "Windows/Downloaded Program Files" or "Windows/Temp" or "Windows/Temporary Internet Files". The full installation of DX9 is 32.591kb

For 98 se that folder should be in C:\Windows\Temp\DirectX9
i dunno for sure if it's there htough since i used the redistribution to install directx 9 on my puter, but that's the equivilant location on 98 se

Sorry but it would have been nicer if you would have specified that you were using Win98se.

My suggestion now would be use the 'Find files' feature of you computer.

Well... I just wonder why, when I come to the lounge, do I get these technical questions?

I still don't see why you cannot use 'find files'.

Why not use the DirectX FAQ (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/Support/DirectX/faq/default.asp) page. You might get a better understanding of it and perhaps where it places files.
