/Ride On

It's another lonely evening
And another lonely town
But I ain't too young to worry
And I ain't too old to cry
When a woman gets me down
Got another empty bottle
And another empty bed
Ain't too young to admit it
And I'm not too old to lie
I'm just another empty head

That's why I'm lonely
I'm so lonely
But I know what I'm gonna do -

I'm gonna ride on
Ride on
Ride on, standing on the edge of the road
Ride on, thumb in the air
Ride on, one of these days I'm gonna
Ride on, change my evil ways
Till then I'll just keep dragging on

Broke another promise
And I broke another heart
But I ain't too young to realize
That I ain't too old to try
Try to get back to the start
And it's another red light nightmare
Another red light street
And I ain't too old to hurry
Cause I ain't too old to die
But I sure am hard to beat

But I'm lonely
Lord I'm lonely
What am I gonna do -

Ride on
Ride on, got myself a one-way ticket
Ride on
Ride on, going the wrong way
Ride on, gonna change my evil ways
Ride on, one of these days
One of these days

Ride on
Ride on
I'm gonna ride on
Ride on, looking for a truck
Ride on
Ride on, keep on riding
Riding on and on and on

Iron Maiden
Die With Your Boots On

Another Prophet of Disaster
Who says the ship is lost,
Another Prophet of Disaster
Leaving you to count the cost.
Taunting us with Visions,
Afflicting us with fear,
Predicting War for millions,
In the hope that one appears.

No point asking when it is,
No point asking who's to go,
No point asking what's the game,
No point asking who's to blame.
'cos if you're gonna die, if you're gonna die,
'cos if you're gonna die, if you're gonna die,

If you're gonna die, die with your boots on.
If you're gonna try, just stick around,
Gonna cry, just move along,
If you're gonna die, you're gonna die.

In 13 the Beast is rising,
The Frenchman did surmise,
Through earthquakes and starvation,
The warlord will arise.
Terror, Death, Destruction,
Pour from the Eastern Sands,
But the truth of all predictions,
Is always in your hands.

If you're gonna die, die with your boots on,
If you're gonna try, just stick around,
Gonna cry, just move along,
If you're gonna die, you're gonna die.

:) I used this Song in 9th Grade English and got an A for it.Plus it is my Favorite Song by Iron Maiden.Well one of them anyways.

Iron Maiden - Flight Of Icarus off their 1983 Album Piece of Mind

As the sun breaks, above the ground,
An old man stands on the hill,
As the ground warms, to the first rays of light
A birdsong shatters the still.
His eyes are ablaze,
See the madman in his gaze.
Fly, on your way, like an eagle,
Fly as high as the sun,
On your way, like an eagle,
Fly and touch the sun.
Now the crowd breaks and a young boy appears
Looks the old man in the eye
As he spreads his wings and shouts at the crowd
In the name of God my father I'll fly.
His eyes seem so glazed
As he flies on the wings of a dream,
Now he knows his father betrayed
Now his wings turn to ashes to ashes his grave.
Fly, on your way, like an eagle,
Fly as high as the sun,
On your way, like an eagle,
Fly as high as the sun.

Carl Orff - O Fortuna ;)

Or just pick any Shania Twain song... she's always singing about something in particular, try Ka-Ching. Both songs suitable for school ears

metallica's "fade to black." its about suicide. theres some meaning for ya.

"Life it seems, will fade away
Drifting further every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free

Things are not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost, this can’t be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now he’s gone

No one but me can save myself, but it’s too late
Now I can’t think, think why I should even try

Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say good-bye"

not a whole lot of them, but enough to get the message. B)

EDIT: come to think of it, most metallica songs have some kind of interpretable, deep message. ;)

 Goddamn it you Filesharing Talk people must be psychic or something. Thats like the 5th time I was going to post my idea on something and someone already stole my idea.

But yes, Fade to Black might work. It was a highly controversial for it's portrayal of suicide. Supposidly it was written after someone stole James Hetfields(the vocalist/rhythm guitarist) amplifire and it made him sad so it inspired him to write a depressing song.

Fans loved and thought of it as honestly portraying suicide in a way rarely seen in popular music. Some fans were so touched by that song that they were going to commit suicide decided not to after listening to Fade to Black.

According to my second-hand sources, Metallica recieved about 2000 letters from fans saying that they were going to kill themself before listening to that song but did not afterwards. Nice huh?

It makes Last Resort look like whiny shit. B) Though the lyrics can be kinda hard to understand in the fast parts so a lyrics sheet could help. :music1:

That's because it is.

Anywho, my contribution to this thread is: Candy Says by Velvet Underground

Candy says I’ve come to hate my body
And all that it requires in this world
Candy says I’d like to know completely
What others so discreetly talk about

Candy says I hate the quiet places
That cause the smallest taste of what will be
Candy says I hate the big decisions
That cause endless revisions in my mind

I’m gonna watch the blue birds fly over my shoulder
I’m gonna watch them pass me by
Maybe when I’m older
What do you think I’d see
If I could walk away from me

This is about as meaningful as I can think of...

The Doobie Brothers

People Gotta Love Again

Wake up everybody
Take a good look around
There's far too many reasons
For all the troubles goin' down.
Jesus is watchin',
And the devil is alive.
Buddha is cryin',
And Allah is mystified.
Brothers killin' brothers,
And our children in the streets.
We gotta change the times
We gotta change the times.

The world is watchin', look at the shape we're in.
There ain't no doubt about it, people gotta love again.

Down on every corner
We got children sellin' dope.
Who's gonna send a message
And try to give 'em hope.
Jesus is watchin',
And the devil is alive.
Buddha is cryin',
And Allah is mystified.
Brothers killin' brothers,
And our children in the streets.
We gotta change the times
We gotta change the times.

The world is watchin', look at the shape we're in.
There ain't no doubt about it, people gotta love again.
Oh what a shame when they try to pretend.
All my brothers and sisters, people gotta love again.

Can't buy love with a paycheck,
It means nothin' to a boy and girl.
You need universal love of all mankind
To change what's wrong with the world.

The world is watchin', look at the shape we're in.
There ain't no doubt about it, people gotta love again.
Oh what a shame when they try to pretend.
All my brothers and sisters, people gotta love again.

A great song lyricwise is:

Adema - Giving In

Will you, walk me
To the edge again
Shaking, lonely, and I am drinking again
Woke up tonight and no one's here with me
I'm giving in to you

Take me under
I'm giving in to you
I'm dying tonight
I'm giving in to you
Watch me crumble
I'm giving in to you
I'm crying tonight
I'm giving in to you

Caught up, in life
Losing all my friends
Family has tried, to heal all my addictions
Tragic it seems, to be alone again
I'm giving in to you

Take me under
I'm giving in to you
I'm dying tonight
I'm giving in to you
Watch me crumble
I'm giving in to you
I'm crying tonight
I'm giving in to you

I look forward, to dying tonight
Drinks 'till I'm myself, life's harder every day
The stress has got me
I'm giving in
Giving
Giving in, NO!

Take me under
(I'm killing all the pain)
I'm dying tonight
(i'm sick of all this pain)
Watch me crumble
(I'm killing all the pain)
I'm crying tonight

I'm giving in to you
Take me under
I'm giving in to you
I'm dying tonight
I'm giving in to you
Watch me crumble
I'm giving in to you
I'm crying tonight
I'm giving in to you
Take me under
I'm giving in to you
I'm dying tonight
I'm giving in to you

Radiohead - Bulletproof... I Wish I Was

Limb by limb, tooth by tooth
Tearing up inside of me
Every day, every hour
I wish that I was bullet proof

Wax me, mould me
Heat the pins and stab them in
You have turned me into this
Just wish that it was bullet proof,
was bullet proof

So pay the money and take a shot
Lead-fill the hole in me
I could burst a million bubbles
All surrogate and bullet proof
And bullet proof
And bullet proof
And bullet proof

or

Silverchair - Suicidal Dream

I dream about how it's going to end
Approaching me quickly
Leaving a life of fear
I only want my mind to be clear
People making fun of me
For no reason but jealousy
I fantasise about my death
I'll kill myself from holding my breath
My suicidal dream
Voices telling me what to do
My suicidal dream
I'm sure you will get yours too

Help me comfort me
Stop me from feeling what I'm feeling now,
The rope is here,
Now I'll find a use,
I'll kill myself,
I'll put my head in a noose,

My suicidal dream,
Voices telling me what to do,
My suicidal dream,
I'm sure you will get yours too,

Dreamin' about my death, dream,
Suicidal, suicidal, suicidal dream,
I'm suicidal,
Suicidal dream

P.S. In year 10 we had to write our own lyrics for a song...I got an VHA+ (A+)...but yeah it was so fun that i continue to do it today...and when i was at uni i had to make a CD artwork and lyrics and everything (besides the CD with the actual music) and i got 28/30 for that assignment...so treasure eveytime you get an assignment with anything to do with music...they are rare :D

PILLAR- A SHAME

You are afraid to say it's true reality escapes you
Time after time you try to prove to yourself you're right
But your ways are not the way how long do you have to play
This game before you see I'm right it's not just a game it's a fight
You're afraid to hold out your hand don't be afraid to take a stand
Chorus
It's a shame to be ashamed
To be ashamed of the One that we should glorify
You are afraid of the price you'll pay will you be strong or walk away
You're reasons are runnin' thin all that's left to do is give in
Inside this generation of sin there's only one place to begin
And it's at the starting line or you will be left behind
You say it's hard to believe in something you can't see
A choice you make today will affect you eternally
Now I'm here to stay
And I've made a change
And I won't go away
From the One who gave life

Cat-Stevens's Lyrics - Father & Son Lyrics
Father
It’s not time to make a change,
Just relax, take it easy.
You’re still young, that’s your fault,
There’s so much you have to know.
Find a girl, settle down,
If you want you can marry.
Look at me, I am old, but I’m happy.

I was once like you are now, and I know that it’s not easy,
To be calm when you’ve found something going on.
But take your time, think a lot,
Why, think of everything you’ve got.
For you will still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not.

Son
How can I try to explain, when I do he turns away again.
It’s always been the same, same old story.
From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen.
Now there’s a way and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.

Father
It’s not time to make a change,
Just sit down, take it slowly.
You’re still young, that’s your fault,
There’s so much you have to go through.
Find a girl, settle down,
If you want you can marry.
Look at me, I am old, but I’m happy.
(son-- away away away, I know I have to
Make this decision alone - no)
Son
All the times that I cried, keeping all the things I knew inside,
It’s hard, but it’s harder to ignore it.
If they were right, I’d agree, but it’s them you know not me.
Now there’s a way and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.
(father-- stay stay stay, why must you go and
Make this decision alone? )

Not that is some meaningful lyrics yall

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE
Steppenwolf

From the 1969 release "At Your Birthday Party
Words and music by John Kay and Nick St. Nicholas

Your eyes are moist, you scream and shout
As though you were a man possessed
From deep inside comes rushing forth
All the anguish you suppressed
Up on your wall hangs your degree
Your parents craved so much for you
And though you're trained to make your mark
You still don't quite know what to do

It's never too late to start all over again
To love the people you caused the pain
And help them learn your name
Oh, no, not too late
It's never too late to start all over again

Well, it's much to late to start again
To try and find a little bliss
So on your woman and your child
You release your bitterness
You drift apart some more each day
You feel the guilt and loneliness
And the God of your childhood you can't find
To save you from your emptiness

It's never too late to start all over again
To love the people you caused the pain
And help them learn your name
Oh, no, not too late
It's never too late to start all over again

You say you've only got one life to live
And when your dead your gone
Your family comes to your grave
And with tears in their eyes
They tell you, you did something wrong
"You left us alone"

Tell me who's to say after all is done
And you're finally gone, you won't be back again
You can find a way to change today
You don't have to wait 'til then

Repeat Chorus
