View Full Version : Converting .wma To .mp3

I use Easy CD-DA Extractor for ripping my albums.
It also comes with Easy Audio File Converter.
Here's the problem:
I received an album ripped with WMP in .wma file format from my friend.
I wanted to convert the files to .mp3 and received an error from the Easy Audio File Converter:
"DRM Protected (Copy-Protected) WMA files are not supported!"
And it refuses to convert the files.
Is there any way around this problem. Does anybody know of a program (converter) that ignores this protection and converts the files anyway.
And don't tell me to ask my friend to rip them again not using WMP but something else, I already know that solution.
I would like to use the files I already have. Who knows, the solution for this might be useful in the future.
Thanks

I tried the converter from that site, but it also refuses to convert the protected .wma files.
Thanks anayway.
I guess I'll just have to ask my friend to rip them again, this time using something else, like Easy CD-Da Extractor.
Ahh, damn Micro$oft, dissapoints me every time. :(

Wow....that's weird. I actually downloaded it to make sure it would work, and it converted an entire Evanescene album (from WMA) that I got from mp3delivery.
Are your files those XP-only "lossless" VBR files? That could be a factor, since the ones I got were normal 80kbps WMA's.

The problems is that they are protected.
I have no problems converting non-protected .wma files. I guess yours are not protected.
Otherwise they are ripped at 192 kbps.
Thanks anyway.

You can rip them without copy-protection in WMP too; under Options>Copy Music simply uncheck Copy Protect Music.
...but you probably already knew that :D

I use Audio Conversion Wizard. Search on google or Kazaa and you'll find it. ^_^
