Plz Help Me Find This Software

I would idealy like a software where i can load up a video (mpeg/avi) pause it and then add more stuff to it

eg make a speech bubble pop up

Windows Movie Maker works. But itll take awhile if its a big file.

VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org/) is excelllent for video editing and it's free. It has countless plug-ins that are easy to find.
Doom9 (http://www.doom9.org/) and AfterDawn (http://www.afterdawn.com/) should have any guides and links to software you may need.
