is the xp a burnt version, maybe fault in burn
i have noticed that some burnt cd's will work onan intel system but not work on an amd

try booting it with another o/s , like 98 if ya got it , or get a freinds disk ( real one ) and see if it works

does it get into the instalation at all , or just crap its self b4 it starts, or during that initial start up of the install , ( the blue screen where it loads the info needed for instalation ) ?

bit more info plz

it goes through initial files and all and then poops out b4 copying files

oh , btw , it could also be that something in your system is not compatable with xp

it could just be the hard drive mate , if its dropping out as it goes to copy ,

cpu and mobo should be fine if it gets through post and lets you boot to cdrom and start, can you format the drive with the xp cd

try deleting the partition and format the drive first

i formated the drive on this comp before i put it in the computer , but i can format again i guess.

um, didnt you format it with the xp disk ?,

windows xp cd lets you partition, format and install all from the cd

Try unhooking the CDRW drive and installing from the CDROM drive.

is that after you partitioned with the windows xp cd

then let it format with the windows xp cd

and then let it try to install

Same computer you built , but different problems each time?

well , then if you said this h/d worked fine in another comp

the only thing i can suggest is to go to the bios an set it back to defaults to see if its something in the bios thats screwing it up

ether that or disconnect any other ide hardware from the ide cables , eg like cdrom drives ect and see if it works then

if the 2 above dont work , grab another h/d and see if the same thing happens

if it does your mobo is rooted , if it doesnt the h/d is confused and i cant see nother way around it
