Control Panel -> Folder Options -> File Types
Find & click on the extension of the file type you want it to prompt instead of open
Click 'Advanced' then check the 'Confirm open after download' box.
Click OK twice and it should now ask you instead of immediately opening files of that extension. You might have to restart your browser.

nono i dont think u guys understand his problem. its when you go to download a file and it says save cancel etc. and he check always do this.

try opening ie and going to tools>internet options>advanced>click restore details, then apply and close. see if that helps.

alright maybe try this:

open ie>tools>options>security:

now there are four things there. Internet, local intranet, trusted sites, and restricted sites. click internet, then go to default, then click local intranet, default, etc. for all four. then restart ie and see if it works...
