Hi,

Whenever I log on to my pc, the desktop doesn't load, so I have to Ctrl + Alt + Del, get to the task manager anmd manually run explorer.exe.

How do make explorer load automatically?

Plz help!

nm, I fixed the problem.

A word of advice:

Never install balckbox on a multiuser winXP system! :frusty:

Hey guy, it looks to me that you have probably got a corrupted version of windows xp. I myself had the same problem with the first copy I grabbed off the net.

There are a couple of things you can do.

1. Try a windows shell replacement program like ASTON and have fun using
that shell instead of EXPLORER.

2. Roll back your O/S to Windows 98 since it's so stable...(just kidding)

Even though your explorer.exe isn't loading at startup thats probably not the file your missing.......I'll bet your missing the input.dll file.

When I had this little problem in the past I used NERO 6 to take my existing Win XP disk along with another OEM Win XP disk to create a complete copy and I't worked great and it still does to this day. Actually, I grabbed the few missing files off a XP Home disk to finish my corrupted XP Pro disk.

When you install windows off your corrupted XP disk, wait for the installation to tell you that you are missing a file, then replace your setup disk with a complete one for that file. When the next files tries to load your installation will not find the next file......you then just pop back in your initial CD and thats it!! It worked for me.

I fixed the problem. I had blackbox in my system, it screwed up my system even tho it wasn't being used. I simply uninstalled blackbox, and the proble dissapeared.

I was on a LEGIT XP OS...I originally d/led a bootleg version, but it would load at startup properly, (XP that is)

and blackbox is a shell replacement i was checking out.

I knew it had something to do with the shell, thats why I suggested ASTON shell for windows.

Right on at least you fixed the problem and are cool now.
