Anyway to find out, besides opening up the computer?

well ya the easiest way would be to open it up and look for something like this on the motherboard:
Image Resized
[img]http://slo-tech.com/testi/plate01/agp_slot.jpg' width='200' height='120' border='0' alt='click for full size view'> ('http://slo-tech.com/testi/plate01/agp_slot.jpg')
(its the long brown thing, your may not have the white latch on the end though, not all do.)

but there are other ways...try finding your motherboard model number, then go to the manufacturers website and look it up to see, or try googling it. To get the model number you can try a program called Aida32.

AIDA 32

My version of AIDA32 doesn't actually tell me anything significant about AGP, and it is the latest version AFAIK.

Sandra (http://www.sisoftware.net/) gives a lot more information.

It might not tell you much, but it does tell you if there IS one...

If you don't want to open the computer then why would you want to know?

You cannot use it if you don't open the case. So what's the point?

Just open it and look. You need to do that anyway if you want to use it.

Actually, it only tells you information about your graphics card, which if it an AGP card then obviously you have an AGP slot.

But if you've got a pci card you could also have an unused AGP slot but it would not tell you about it.

actually, sorry to prove you wrong, but if you go to Aida32>Motherboard>Motherboard, under "motherboard physical info" it will say "expansion slots", ie 5 PCI, 1 AGP ;)

yeah, i meant to use aida32 to find the motherboard make and model, then search teh model on google to find out, but your way works too :P

and i agree with vb1234, there is no point in knowing unless you are going to open the computer anyway, so why not get it over with and just open it now?

Damn, I looked under motherboard and it didn't tell me anything. Then I tried update to make sure I had the latest version and it said I had. But when I look back now it's got that info in there.

I have v.3.85...is there a newer one?

V3.93 seems to be the latest (edit: and last).

Go to File/Netupdate to get the latest. Even though I already had V3.93 it still downloads something which may be mobo related.

Edit: just went to aida32 web site, it is closed and redirects to a site called "lavalys", who don't seem to support aida32. :(
