Not exactly new but interesting ;)

Guns N' Roses' anthem Sweet Child O' Mine has the greatest guitar riff ever, according to a poll in a music monthly.

Full story & source + the top 20 riffs Click here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/3677965.stm)

I wouldn't agree with all of them :D

What would make your Top 20 ;)

If this has been posted before, sorry but couldn't find it :P

Smells Like Teen Spirit is a great song but I don't think it is a great guitar riff. How can Hotel California by the Eagles not be in the top 20? That's my favorite riff of all time.

If your talking about iron butterfly, that would deffanatly be one of the greatest riffs.

I'd have put Layla at the top myself, but Sweet Child O' Mine is a damn fine riff too. I'd also have liked to see Evanescence's "Tourniquet" in there but it's perhaps a little too new; it's got not one but two great riffs.

ok, ok....instead of flaming that FAG arm....
here's some of the ones i like....
(just some bands, it would take forever to list songs)

Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Def Leppard
anything heavy and metal :P

(and just to show everyone that i am not totally biased towards metal.....)

Led Zeppelin (of course) :P
Boston (anyone who says "Dont Look Back" doesnt have some great guitar is GAY!)
Aerosmith
Golden Earring

(and for some of the newer rock.....)

Queens Of The Stoneage
Audioslave
Incubus
Lit (just got an advance copy of their 2004 self-titled album, not bad)

this is of course a very short list,
and maybe not the top of list,
it's just stuff that i have heard recently so was in my head

I cant think of any conclusion of why Arm is why he is. There are big reasons but nothing thats an absolute answer.

Iron butterfly of course. :flowers:

And what I voice my opinion of what the greatest guitar riff ever and everyone flames me like I'm some drone who isnt supposed to speak or disagree. <_<

And Layla is a nice riff too. Though the unplugged version aint as good as the plugged version.

it wasnt that you gave an opinion...
thats what this thread was about....
it was HOW you gave it...

when you put shit like " <_< " and "what a bunch of dumbasses" together...
you are askin for it....
