If you use your HOSTS file o block ads, then open it with notepad, and see if you have these entries:
googleadservices.com
www.googleadservices.com

Remove them and restart your browser. It should work.

for anyone who doesn't want to see them an easy way to block them is to disable java scripts in your browser. that is if you dont use java much :)

Just so you guys know those ads are what keep this community alive

Exactly. They're not installing stuff on your system and aren't intrusive so why bother? I have ads on my site and am very grateful every time someone clicks on them (if everyone blocked them no-one would). The cash input this site must require is high so helping out now and then can't hurt.

Both. Without the cash that the admins and people input there would be no board for the members to post in and without the members there would be no-one to post in the board :)

I remember last July when I first joined the board was completely ad-free, but it was not so stable and kept crashing for hours at a time, so we had to go to a temporary forum.
So maybe having the advert is better than the alternative.

Ok I decided to remove the google ads at the requests of many members. Please remember though that the ads are up there to help pay for the server costs each month.

Perhaps you should have a poll?

Personally, I found that like all ads, I found them easy enough to ignore.

The only reason to complain seems to be just for the sake of having something to complain about, and simply to cause trouble.

I hope the board doesn't suffer because of this. :(

You click them everyday like you do at hungersite.com
But in this case instead of helping to feed human beings, you are helping keep the board alive!

Me too. Ya why not.

I think some of those members not happy about the content of the google ads rather than the ads themselfs. Can you control the content of the ads?

Rookie - can you make the ads so that when you click on them they open in a new browser window/tab, so then it won't take people away from this site? ;)

Try: http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/

Not sure if it will work but that's what I have in (Firefox) adblock and they arn't getting through so I guess the reverse should work.

No, i must give a string to allow something, otherways every ad will be blocked
