Just why (http://ohlssonvox.8k.com/fdd_raid.htm) would anyone do this. It's just as mad as a feckin snake.

I think it kicks ass just as an exercise-basic theory dictates the configuration, then educate yourself as to the benefits of various RAID set-ups!

Granted, not all of us have a handful of floppy-drives laying around, but still...worthy of a tip-o'-the-hat, I think.

And yes, J'Pol-it IS mad; ingenious, too. :)

I want (eventually) a RAID 0/1 setup. ;)

Because of this apparently

WHY:

Why not? I had just set up my 2 firewire drives and thought, "Can I RAID USB Floppy DRIVES"? I happen to work for Y-E DATA which is one of the worlds largest manufacturers of USB Floppy Drives, so I have access to these things. I had just been going through a pile of returns testing the drives for failure. There are always a few that are fine though, so I got 5 of them for this very important scientific feat.

 Shouldn't that be "as mad as a feckin cut snake"?

Cos really under normal circumstances snakes aren't all that mad. A lot of them are very peaceful. B)
