I have a AMD Athlon XP 2000+ and a FIC AN17 motherboard.

When it was my brothers, it read the cpu speed was 1.57. Before I OC'ed it on my system it said it was an unknown cpu w/ speed of 1.63.

He says the speed is supposed to be 1.7-something.

What could cause the mis-readings and is there anyway to fix it?

It should be 1.67Ghz. Your readings look fine to me. Sept for the unknown thing...but its running at the right speed.

Yea, i think my setup might of said 1.67.

I have it OC'ed to 1.925. Whats that equivalent to? (2000+ @ 2300+?)

the fsb or multiplier must have been set wrong. its suppposed to be a fsb of 266 and a multiplier of 12.5. take a look here (http://139.95.253.214/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=17,E=0000000000095810703,K=3801,Sxi=7,Case=obj(1224))

hmm, says knowledge server isnt running. oh well.

1.925 is a bit over the 2200+ (1.8ghz), not sure if its 2400+. but shouldnt it say during your post what the processor equivlent is? is did on my aunts computer after I oced it...

Knowledge server is not running please try later.

It says "Unknown Processor 1.925" or something like that

Looks like you got that edit just before me

EDIT: it was also saying unknown processor type before i oc'ed it. I did some cross-multiplication and it came out 2305

When I OC'd my chip the system no longer reported what version it was.
It just says "AMD Athlon XP 2.31MHz".

A 2500+ OCed to 2.2GHz reports as a 3200+
A 2600+ OCed to 2.3GHz reports as a ... oops, there isn't one, I assume that's why you get that report.

@SingaBoiy: see if there's a bios update, you sometimes need that to get correct chip reporting even though it operates correctly.

My chip is at 2,310Mhz and it reports as a 3200XP.

1.9Ghz is between 2500XP and a 2600XP.

They had a bios update that was for Athlon XP 1900+ they were being misread. I did that one and it didnt change it to how it should be.
