View Full Version : I Can Only O/c My 2500+ To 2.16ghz

I've heard stories that people can get it a lot higher but I can only get it upto 2.16Ghz (2166Mhz).

My RAM is pc3200 Dual
Memory Read - 2344Mhz
Memory Write - 1009Mhz

Temps
43*c CPU Idle
25*c Case

I think my temps are reasonable and has room to go a little higher before I have to worry about extra cooling.

Has anyone got any additional tips on how to enchance my PC's performance?

What mobo? and did you change the multiplier or the fsb or both?
And what are your ram timings?

You might try increasing the core voltage a bit if you can.

ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe the multiplier is still at 11 I upped the fsb to 196 I think well something around there.
My RAM timings are optimal something like 7-2-2-2. Thou dont quote me on that as I know little about Ram timings.

try upping the vcore to 1.7 or 1.75 and see if you can go a bit higher, the chip may not be getting enough power

The core was upped to 1.70V when I done my first overclock.
It doesn't run stable at full load on 1.65V.

try upping to 1.725 or whatever the next step is
i had to boost mine to 1.75 to get my 2362.5Mhz outta my 2500 B)

Try 200HMz for the FSB but maybe a bit lower on the RAM timing first.

and if it doesn't work on 200, try 201, some mobo's just don't like 200....

Thanks for the help guys, Upped the VCore by one and the FSB to 200 and it works a treat. :D

Now watch your temps. Raising Vcore has a big effect on temps.

You also might want to run the Folding@Home project. If you get lots of Work Units ending early then your system still isn't stable and you will probably have to increase Vcore a little more.

I had to increase mine to 1.775V before it was completely stable and the temps were too high with stock cooling at that voltage, but that varies from processor to processor.

Hi Lynx
I've downloaded it, How can I tell from it whether my system is stable or not.
It's folding as we speak.

After running it for about 10 mins

CPU - 49*c
Case - 27*c

I'll keep it on for a while seeing as it's for a good cause.

BTW it's still at 0 percent how long does it take it to move?

is the CPU temp idol or not?

it's now 50*c folding and 44*c idle.

Temps are ok, Folding will take a long time depending on which project its working on.

Good job.

I would have recommended uping the vcore or loosing memory timings, but you already fixed it! I hope you like your fast CPU!

Check your stability by looking at the log file (right click on the sysray icon and select status/log file). If you see lots of work units saying "Early Completion" then your system is still unstable (it warns you about that).

I found that increasing Vcore solved that problem, but of course the temps went up too.

But in general the Folding project is a long term thing. It only costs you a very small amount per day to run it all the the time, and it doesn't affect your performance, and you get a stability checker for free.

funniest thing I've read all day!! thanks Marius24!
after running folding@home for 10 minutes, is it idle....I love it lol

lol.
I checked the log file couldn't find any Early Completion's at all.
Thanks a lot for all your help guys, Much appreciated.
