I hope this isnt old or nething..but I dont see it on here so here is the official review.

HERE (http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/20040504/index.html)

The 6800Ultra seems to win on almost all benchmarks at the top.

Untill they turn AA and AF WAY up..then the ATI card begins to soar above the rest :D

ati wins hands down. nvidia seems to compensate for it's lack of power with it's connections with lots of gaming companies, such as atari, ubisoft, tdk, and some others.

any x800 is an x800, there are different manufacturers of the card, they all have pretty much same performance, but some may have better heatsync and stuff than others.

I would hold out on that upgrade if I were you. For one thing, the really exiting performance increases will come with the introduction of PCI Express. The AGP slot will be old news. I personally see no reason in upgrading until then. My 9800 Pro still definately does the trick for me...

$500, I don't think I will pay that much. By the time PCI Express comes out that price will be down AT LEAST $100, plus, I would usually go for on of the add in board (AIB) parners version anyways. The name brand ATI is nowhere near as badass as HiS.

What is PCI Express, and when will it be here?

bigdawgfoxx

PCI express is a new slot on the motherboard. It is MUCH faster then the AGP slot, and allows for much greater bandwith. Im not sure when it will be here but it will be months...

Don't forget Tom is well known for having a huge nvidia/intel bias for some time...

I'm gonna wait a while till my comp gets obsolete then upgrade the whole thing with a new mobo with PCIexpress, and most likley the HIS version of the x800xt
that won't be within the next few months though, but when I do...
Yeah I think the HIS version of the X800 will be really nice, I have the HIS 9600XT and it's a beauty lol

bigdawgfoxx

Yeah..PS3..dont even look that much different...

Are we sure that the PCI Express version wont also be $500 when it comes out?

Tom still rated ATI the best...so if their nvidia bias..that means ati is really good I would guess haha

You see as soon as these products are on the market for 3 or 4 months and all of the OEMs are dumping them the prices will definately go down to $400.

dude, with a good cooling system, u can prob oc a 9800xt or even a pro to compete with the x800, except 4 the # of pipelines

This is completly false I would have to say.

This card is like scoring 15,000 in 3DMark03 right? If not I know I have seen over 12,000 in 3DMark03

The 9800XT might get around 7,000 max.

Theres no way in hell 9800xt can get to a x800. Its twice a good then the 9800.

So that would mean that i would have to buy a new mobo, and i bet it wont be cheap. Anyways since you said that it will be in a couple months i will just upgrade then, i get the x800 for now.
