Xp Pro. Shutdown...3 Minutes?

Running XP Pro. with 512 Ram AMD Athlon 2000. Everything seems to be running well, except on shutdown. Screen displays "Windows is shutting down" for at least 3 minutes...sometimes longer, before it actually shuts down.

Any suggestions please?

Those links were very useful, and have solved the problem. Now down to 20secs or so.
