DVD to VCD-The Complete Guide

When I first got my DVD Burner I realised it was going to cost me a fortune in DVD-R’s so I thought I would see if it was possible to convert them to mpeg so I could then burn them to VCD. And with some help from the
K-Lite Board I can now do that.

So I thought I would make this guide to help everybody else who wants to convert.

Aldso check out these guides:

Easy VCD (http://filesharingtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=110006&hl=)
KVCD Guide-Manual (http://filesharingtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=108782&hl=)

I’ve made this as simple as possible so here it goes.

Hope this helps some people.

Some people have told me its easier to use DVD2SVCD but people have said that its to hard, wont work or poor quality.

If any of the pictures aren't clear just click on them.

You will need:

DVD-Rom
CD Writer
DVD Decrypter
DVD 2 AVI
Tmpgenc
VCD Burning Software (like Nero)

You can download the ones in blue from www.dvdrhelp.com/tools (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/tools) Pm me for a Tmpgenc Seriel

You can download Nero from Nero Home (http://www.nero.com) Pm me for a seriel

Step One:

Get all of the above

Step 2:

Insert the DVD you wish to convert into your drive and load up DVD Decrypter which should look like this:

Image Resized

Step 3:

Now we need to select the main movie files.

[img]http://www.talkpets.com/upload/b.GIF' width='200' height='120' border='0' alt='click for full size view'> ('http://www.talkpets.com/upload/b.GIF')

Step 4:

You will now notice only a few of the files are selected (these are the main movie files) Now we need to choose where we are going to save our movie and then we are ready to Decrypt. (See Picture Below).

Image Resized
[img]http://www.talkpets.com/upload/b1.GIF' width='200' height='120' border='0' alt='click for full size view'> ('http://www.talkpets.com/upload/b1.GIF')

Step 5:

This screen will load up and just wait for DVD Decrypter to finish:

[img]http://www.talkpets.com/upload/d4.GIF' width='200' height='120' border='0' alt='click for full size view'> ('http://www.talkpets.com/upload/d4.GIF')

Step 6:

Once DVD Decrypter has finished you need to open up DVD 2 AVI which should look like this:

[img]http://www.talkpets.com/upload/d5.GIF

Step 7:

Now we need to open the video files we just created using DVD Decrypter, once selecting the first file the other movie files should open automatically.

[img]http://www.talkpets.com/upload/d6.GIF' width='200' height='120' border='0' alt='click for full size view'> ('http://www.talkpets.com/upload/d6.GIF')

Image Resized
[img]http://www.talkpets.com/upload/d7.GIF' width='200' height='120' border='0' alt='click for full size view'> ('http://www.talkpets.com/upload/d7.GIF')

Step 8: Now that your files are loaded we need to make sure the audio settings are correct.

Select the same as below:

Image Resized
[img]http://www.talkpets.com/upload/d8.GIF' width='200' height='120' border='0' alt='click for full size view'> ('http://www.talkpets.com/upload/d8.GIF')

Step 9: Now we just need to save the project:

Image Resized
[img]http://www.talkpets.com/upload/d9.GIF' width='200' height='120' border='0' alt='click for full size view'> ('http://www.talkpets.com/upload/d9.GIF')

Now a box like this should load up

[img]http://www.talkpets.com/upload/c1.GIF' width='200' height='120' border='0' alt='click for full size view'> ('http://www.talkpets.com/upload/c1.GIF')

Once this has finished you should have to files. A d2v file and a wav file.

If the film you have made is over 74 or 80 minutes (depending on the maximum amount of time on your cd-r) you will need to split into 2 (or more) files.

To do this start up Tmpgenc and close the wizard if it appears.

Now select in File mpeg tools:

http://www.talkpets.com/upload/c5.GIF

This screen will load up (below), click on Merge and Cut.

http://www.talkpets.com/upload/c6.GIF

Now choose the following settings:

http://www.talkpets.com/upload/c7.GIF

Open the mpeg file you wish to split:

http://www.talkpets.com/upload/c8.GIF

Double click on the file you have just added and this window will appear:

Image Resized
http://www.talkpets.com/upload/c9.GIF' width='200' height='120' border='0' alt='click for full size view'> ('http://www.talkpets.com/upload/c9.GIF')

Now choose where you wish your file to start and finish:

Image Resized
[img]http://www.talkpets.com/upload/e1.GIF' width='200' height='120' border='0' alt='click for full size view'> ('http://www.talkpets.com/upload/e1.GIF')

Then click ok.

Now choose where you want the file to save and click run.

Anyway hope this helps
