Yup M$ is planning with the release of XP SP2 Final to block & lock users out (even in safe mode) of their boxes. Right now as I gather this info it seems this applies mainly/only (not sure) to those that changed their product keys but didn't obtain a "640" PID & installed a pre final SP2.

The source is reliable (not me lol). I'm not going to name it. I'd just suggest taking precautions. Peace.

Fair enough, but some smart people will write a new crack or key generater by then. :)

Edit: Zapjb wonder where that leaves us Xp pro corp user's ?

I personally will try to wait at least a month after SP2 goes final.

@ROSSCO_2004 It's directed especially at pre final SP2 installs.

I doubt microsoft would implement such a feature. It would encourage people to either go unpatched making their operating system seems even more insecure when all the pirated copies catch the next big worm outbreak or you will see droves of people switching to an alternative like linux.

There was talk that MS was going to let us upgrade to sp2 but they changed their tune.

I'll install it...
in VMware (http://www.vmware.com/).

Why risk it, when you can do it virtually? ;)
