I voted also

Leave as is

If you change it back users will go overboard with images posted plus when you post a image it can be up to 499 in width without image resize kicking in..

What happened to the option to get rid of it altogether?

As far as I can tell it currently seems to resize based on the size in kb, not the width or depth in pixels. Since the whole image is downloaded anyway, it is of no benefit to 56kers, and since it is also possible to create a low quality image which will cause scroll bars to be used it doesn't fulfill that purpose either.

If the script can be changed to set a pixel limit and resize if exceeded then ok, I'd say go for 600, but resize to the current size. This would make people think a little more about the images they are posting. Don't forget you really need a vertical maximum too.

On the whole I say get rid of it, it was only introduced because of abuse by a small number of members and there are other ways of dealing with that sort of thing.

It already is for pixel width, not filesize, and 500 pixels is the limit now. That was chosen for people who use 800x600 resolution. Anything wider that 500 pixels would require sideways scrolling at 800x600. And yes, there are still plenty of those users.

I voted for: 2. Image Resized should be upped to 500pxl

what is the advantage of resizing it to a thumbnail instead of resizing it to say 500? At least a size of 500 would mean you could make out hte picture.

I've always used a res. of 800x600 without really thinking about it, I once adjusted it different but everything was too small.
what is the recommended resolution to use - thanks

I think 500 is a good size

recomended? depends on monitor really, or how much flocker you can take...

for:

15" - recomend 800*600
17" - recomended is 1024*768, but im using 1152*864 and it works fine.
19" - recomend 1280*1024
21" - recomend the like 1500*whatever or whatever it is...lol.

best to just see with your monitor what the best looking on is to you, keep in mind that flicke is sometimes fixable by going to advanced, click either adaptor (98/me) or monitor (xp, maybe 2000) and changing the refresh rate to the highest supported by your monitor.

I think the 500 px width is good. Maybe larger pictures should be resized to 500 px so we can make them out. It would also be nice if the aspect ratio would be the same as the original picture.

Oh wait, no one knows how to change the image resize feature. Whats the purpose of this poll?

RealitY

Whats odd is the topic that Zedaxax had turned into a poll that I started on this before had an option to just get rid of it. As I stated there this was only put in by 7th in order to prove who was in charge at the time after he changed the board to 800x600 and some members deliberate posted large pictures to stretch the screen, I think some of us would like to forget most things associated with 7th at this point.

Also whats even stranger is that the option to just get rid of it was the highest in the poll last I saw before the board crash, after all there are better ways to deal with abusers then and now as well, unless we truly need to be treated like lttle children. It seems now that those who don't want it are now split between multiple choice and frankly this poll is now rather useless considering there is an option to keep it but none to get rid of it, yet only to to choose between 3 lesser options...

I added your remove it entirely option.

And while I applaud your choice of Poussin's Midas and Bacchus, I'm sure you'll agree that actual artwork isn't the type of image that is usually showcased here. ;) If only it could be discriminatory...actual artwork= no resizing, photographs of porn stars= as is.

I'll accept what you say, it may have changed since I last noticed.

I definitely remember posting two images of identical size (pixels). I deliberately chose them for that and they were both well under 500 pixels wide, yet one got resized and the other didn't.

It screwed up the whole post and I was more than a little pissed off at the time.

I am sorry but after the fact that I have already voted along with almost 50 others it is rather pointless, maybe this poll should be restareted because otherwise it still remains rather useless...

The more I look into it the crazier it seems to get.

Look here (http://filesharingtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=114008&st=0&#entry1034041) and compare SensualBarfing's last pic with the one before it. The last one is larger in dimensions but smaller in data size, yet the one before gets resized. But some of the earlier pics are even smaller in data size but they too are resized.

37 votes - For change

Is it like he said-there is no point to this poll?

I don't think it was ever mentioned that no-one knew how to fix that problem.

I voted for 500 px but would like this if the height is resized proportionately - I don't think that an adjustment would work with 7th code so maybe a knew code would be required.......

<!--QuoteBegin-7thElement @ 9th February 2004 - 07:53
I guess you get it wrong...

IF the image is over 500 width then the resize function will post a thumb of the image which is clickable. If the image is up to 500 pixels then it is posted normal.

the 200 x 120 preview ONLY applies if the image is more than 500 pixels width.

Reason for the 200 x 120 size is:

Strange dimensions would look ugly if they are resized and the way it is now it will also work for signatures[/quote]

Out of curisoity restart this poll with all options available from the begining, it seems this pol is twat and it also it dont really matter what the vote is for some reason, although unclear to me. Just get rid of it, its a useles daycare option and insulting to any regular here over the age of 12 I would imagine...

Image resized is not a 7th created thing, it is built into the Invision Power Board software. Options are in the admin contreol panel:

Under system settings: Click 'Topics, Posts or Polls'>Scroll down to where it asks 'Show uploaded images in posts?'> it says yes\no, and then says 'Show Thumbnail?', change the size to 500*500 or whatever size u want, instead of whatever it is set to now. Then apply.

Done. Simple.
