Bt To Upgrade It Whole Network

the bbc is reporting that BT is going to change its entire pstn (public switched telephone network) system to an ip based one.

this will be the biggest change the british telephone system has ever seen. all voice traffic will now be data traffic. hopefully this means copper will become fiber in all areas but dont hold your breathe.

does anyone else remember about 15 years ago bt announcing universal broadband. anyone here still waiting for BB.

Sounds cool, but they're a little thin on hte detail of whats actually going to be changed and how this will really affect things.

Verizon is already doing fiber to the curb. Slowly but surely all telecom will do this and it get rid off numerous jobs.
