Trial Begins For Cop Charged With Soliciting Sex From Stripper
Dancer Allegedly Taped Conversation With Suspect

INDIANAPOLIS -- The fate of an officer charged with using his position to solicit sex from a stripper may depend on the authenticity of an audio tape.



Lawyers presented opening arguments Wednesday in the case against Indianapolis Police Officer Frank Ingram (pictured, left).

Ingram, 50, is charged with felony charges of bribery, sexual battery and criminal confinement, RTV6&#39;s Derrik Thomas reported.


Prosecutor Cynthia Ridgeway told jurors that Ingram threatened Brenda Broderick.
"You give me sex and I&#39;ll let you go," Ridgeway said Ingram told Broderick.

The prosecution will submit as evidence a tape that Broderick said she secretly recorded during an encounter with Ingram, Thomas reported.

On the tape, Ingram is allegedly angry that two weeks had gone by and he hadn&#39;t received the oral sex he requested, Thomas reported.

Defense lawyer John Kaufman said he will produce an expert to prove that the tape was altered, but prosecutors said they have an FBI expert who will testify that the tape is authentic.


Prosecutors said they expect the trial is expected to wrap up Thursday.
