when i play far cry it places me on medium settings, the game runns smooth for ht emost part but inside sometime the frame rate goes real slow
i have 512 ddr ram,
question is, if i get some more ram will it improve the game play?

no not really its really the video card....
i have fx5600 128mb and i can play on medium settings i think the problem with urz might be because fx5600 256mb is worse than the 128mb version...

They key to gaming is having 1. A good video card 2. RAM - and lots of it. I'd say 768mb at minimum.

im not so sure. 512 should be enough unless u want to play 3 games at a time :D

Try following the msconfig and services.msc, and defragment part of my guide (link to it in sig).
hope that helps you, you shouldn't need to buy a new graphics card, the one you have is just fine, all your specs are fine.
I have 768Mb and its useful for quick loading times and no stuttering at the beginning of a map/game, but I reckon its mainly your video card holding it back. 9800's are still good cards and are quite cheap these days, go for a pro if you can. :)

Not all 256mbs are worse than 128mbs!!!!!!!
Get it into your heads people. It happens, but not all the time.

I say get alot of ram because I have 512 and the latest FPS games (Battlefield Vietnam, UT2k4) (I don't have Far Cry :P) eat the shite out of my ram and my computer is all slow when i exit the games. It takes a few seconds for all of the desktop icons to show up.

Dont run anything in the back ground, it might help.
I have a 5600xt which is shittier then a 5600 and i run it at above 800x600,i get 25 fps.
Get a better video card and more ram, 512 and above.

KazaaLeecher when u play,
on medium settings at a higher res that 800 x 600,
do u honestly experiance any frame rate issues what so ever?
i know my card is mid range but its a pain in the ass considering Half life 2 and doom 3 may do the same on similar settings

I don't really see the problem, tweak the settings till you get an acceptable frame rate - problem solved.

i have this rig down here, and I run farcry all maxed with the exception of anisotropic and antialiasing  POS processor  and it never lags (except on MP, which I mentioned elsewhere sucks ass ) Alot of people have problems with far cry and nVidia cards , are you sure your drivers are updated? I remember nVidia releasing something that was going to make pixel shader 2 support on par with the 9800 :hah!:, which would make farcry more stable. Other than that I would say buy a 9800 or an x800xt, eventually you will have to. <--that's assuming you want to play far cry "the way it's meant to be played"
