That's a tough nut to crack.

I suppose it would help if she hadn't (in my case) been a complete nightmare.

I think I would have to agree, though, to the former: If you hadn't ever been completely gutted by a woman, you'd never know what you were avoiding, eh? ;)

Some times its best to remember the good times even if they were few and far in between. Women can't live with them can't kill em . That special one is just around the corner. :frusty:

Yes ime It Is Better To Have Loved And Lost. Ask somebody who has gone through most or all of their lives without being in love once.

I expect after it does happen, you will feel the same way, no matter the outcome of whatever alliance you form, Zap.

To borrow from and paraphrase Neitzsche:

'That which doesn't kill me makes me stronger, and is thus ultimately of benefit to me.'

It matters not who won or lost, but how one played the game.

At least that is what our old School Rector used to say.

However, our school also taught "Dulce et Decorum est" and in not in the Wilfred Owen sense. I only discovered Owen later and thought "the buggers"

However, this is of no use to you Marius. At the risk of sounding like Internet News - keep an unlocked door on your heart. We cannot keep others' hearts (don't even think about the fridge - doh! I said don't go there) but we can care for our own.

The person that wrote the original quotation was speaking with the benefit hindsight - to see one's life in retrospect without the heady mix of love and infatuation would be to drain half the colour from the picture.

Beautifully stated, Biggles.

We owe it to ourselves to develop the ability to perform some emotional "housekeeping"; we are less than presentable to prospective mates if we lack this ability.

Still, Marius, you have my empathy.

Heed the wisdom of Biggles. ;)

It is also perfectly normal to be in a somewhat weakened and susceptible state, Marius.

Buck up; it'll be alright. ;)

One thing i found to have some positive effect in those kind of times was to
try to keep myself busy with new things. It is not a cure really, but it helps.

I mean, picking up a new hobby with new ppl,
since everything Old in the Past seemed to remind about Her,
it better had to be New Things.

Eventually, someday you find yourself thinking what a waste of time
it can be to be stuck on X.

The trick is to learn to keep your mind busy,
do something physical, that way you will get the sleep easier too.

That PC aint going to help you that much, well, maybe some laughs in here etc,
but do go outside and do something, it does help.

I've been taught that relationships should be for selfgrowth. Sure it didn't work out, but how much of that relatioship defined who you are now. My fiance broke up with me a week before Christmas. Sucks, Sucks bad. But, I loved the entire time we were going out. The relationship made me grow in so many ways. Every responsible thing I've accomplished in the last 4 years have been due to that relationship. It showed me what it's going to be like with that next someone. So, it is true. If I hadn't loved and lost....I wouldn't be me, I wouldn't have my favorite memories, and I would still be completely lost on where I want to be.

Oh, and Always remember,

I'll be the round about
The words will make you out 'n' out
You change the day your way
Call it morning driving thru the sound and
In and out the valley

Ah Yes, they really put things into perspective, don't they? :P

I had one of these:
Image Resized
[img]http://www.sportcraftcars.com/autoart/movie/aart75306b.jpg' width='200' height='120' border='0' alt='click for full size view'> ('http://www.sportcraftcars.com/autoart/movie/aart75306b.jpg')

I REALLY loved it...

Then I lost it....

But I sure am glad I had it...
So I have to say I agree.

Ok, i've gone to all the trouble of writing this so I wont simply trash it, but I have to say that I just now realized that for gayness and banality, this post gets a 10/10
