My Friend Forgot His Loggin Password For Xp

well my idiot friend forgot his loggin password for XP. is there anyway to find out? i was going to reformatt his computer so he can start over but is there any easier way? :blink:

power up the pc and system will start POST power on self test when the message apears press DEL to enter set up

now we know to be very carefull remove tick on password check

shows up under advanced Bios hope that helps

What you have to do is logon as admin and remove his password.

Try as ariel has said, press alt-ctrl-del at the login screen (think u tap it twice) then type administrator for username, and if it is an oem computer or windows xp home then the password is nothing, if it is self made or windows xp pro then the password will be whatever your friend made that when he installed windows.

once in, go to user accounts, delete his user account, then recreate it.

or if that doesn&#39;t work becuase he doesn&#39;t know admin password either (he should really start writing these things down if he can&#39;t remember), then he can try a repair install of windows.

Ya that is what I am saying. It will work assuming he did not set a password that he can`t remember for that too. :rolleyes:

If it doesnt work. I think there&#39;s a program that can reset any password. I can&#39;t remember what it was. There&#39;s such a thing though.

If that does not work and your getting really desperate then try DreamPackPL (http://www.d--b.webpark.pl/dreampackpl_en.htm)

Swap one .dll and you should be able to logon / reset password/ etc. B)

Log in to Windows as Administrator by either booting to Safe Mode, or hitting Ctrl|Alt|Del twice and entering Administrator in the username with the right password.
Once logged in, go to the Control Panel and open the Users applet. From here you can remove the password on his account.

http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ and DreamPackPL (http://www.d--b.webpark.pl/dreampackpl_en.htm) are both good because you can access the administrator account without needing to know the password. B)

http://www.tweakxp.com/tweak2019.aspx only works if you can access the administrator account. You did n&#39;t read Chewies, advice Start in safe mode or press at/ ctrl/del first. :P

Both programs can change the password without needing to know the old one. I highly reconmend DreamPackPL (http://www.d--b.webpark.pl/dreampackpl_en.htm).

Then from there you can remove all passwords can on my board or at worst think of clearing the CMOS me i never use a pass word well good luck you need it

remove your MotherBoard&#39;s Cell and replace it, by the time all ur time and windows password&#39;S database as longin password will be reseted. ;)

if you have the admin password, use the admin to delete the password

if you forgot the admin password, boot with a win2000 cd, and create a new admin password......

Again what does the Motherboard/BIOS have to do with Windows XP logon password. Seriously I don`t see the connection here. His friend has trouble login in Windows.

Ok I just tryed Offline NT Password & Registry Editor (http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/) and it works great. You can re-set you passoword with it.

I don&#39;t know why this thread has got so complicated.

Users account passwords for Windows cannot be changed in the BIOS.

Maybe the other software works I don&#39;t know as I&#39;ve never tried them but ERD Commander works EVERY time. Just boot with the CD, chose your Windows installation then with Locksmith you can change any password (even the admin account) without knowing the old password.
