lol u can only take the cheapest 1s:

maybe a geforce fx 5200 PCI (not ultra :). the ultra is only on AGP. the 5200 is PCI and AGP so u need to look for the right 1)

It sounds like you have a old computer. You will need to do some major upgrades like getting a new motherboard before you can have better graphics.

Yes.
Many.

The question is how much do you want to invest in a PC so antiquated that it lacks AGP?

My pc was purchased in 1999 and it has a 2x AGP slot, I don't have a video card in there because the same card i was going to buy was cheaper in the PCI verson so I got it instead. :D

No ones going to argue with you ,if your happy with that and can play the games you like ,power to you. Not every one needs a new and improved computer. It depends on what you need. I have an old pII 500 , 512 mg ram It can funtion quite well on the internet and play card cames. But thats about it . I'll stick with my new one its A p4 2.00ghz , And I'm looking to upgrade ,IMHO. :)

PCI differs substantially in comparison to its AGP counterpart. The usage of PCI, for a GPU, consequences in a performance defficiency, comparitively due to the fact that PCI 2.3's maximum bandwidth throughoutput is incomparable to AGP 8x. However, expect the upcoming arrival of PCI Express to overthrow AGP's dominance of the GPU-market.

AGP wont fall off the table for at least the next 2 years :)

the x800xt works with agp4x (meaning that the cards aftet that will prolly have a min. agp 8x requirement :))

If you really want better graphics performance, a new motherboard with an agp slot is going to be needed.

fx5200 ism't that great of a card to begin with, and as PCI i doubt it will be at all good ;)
