Computerpro3 just started posting on the OC Forums and his information and guides impress me as being very informative and useful.
He has kindly granted his consent to spread his ideas around to other forums, I am but the messenger.

For your edification...
PSUs- some thoughts. (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=304329)
PSUs- A modding guide. (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=299937)

I'm definitely looking into implementing the mods from the guide.
More cool switches and better control over the system environment.

Zapjb isn't going to like criticism of his beloved Antecs.

I'm sure he'll recover eventually.

We'll just have to allow him some time to heal.

Look mark down this date in history. Even though I haven't yet read the afore mentioned guides. I concede there could be, maybe, probably are/or might be better PSU than ANTEC. I feel faint.....

My point has always been there are very FEW good PSU brands & ANTEC is one. Along with Thermaltake, PC power & cooling (think thats the name), Vantec & Enermax. A couple others. And dozens that are pos.

So my beef is NOT against other good brands. But these shiny pos ohhhhh it's 500 watts so it's gotta be good PSU no names or bs brands.

After reading the 1st article. I concur. Nothing about ANTEC that I disagree about.

.... 2. Antecs are great psu's, but they are NOT reccomended for heavy overclocking. If you want stable, reliable operation with mild overclocking or low speeds, they are the ticket. However, their voltage lines DO drop when you hit around 3.8-4ghz Intel, 2.7-3ghz AMD. That is a fact. Ask any of the people that have experience with them....
For ~$85 delivered the ANTEC SLK3700AMB was a great buy for me. Got a good case & PSU. And since newegg at the time made a mistake & advertised it w/2 120mm fans. They sent me the 2nd Antec fan for free & a $25 check. So I did really well. :01:

So this article proves my point. So where's all the Antec's are a waste of money & my Ultra Super Duper brand is 500 watts & just as good & it only cost $35 posts?

Another quote from the 1st article that I totally agree with.

....Now on the issue of generic power supplies. 5 words:

DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT....
