What are the Registered Elections Parties in Canada. Canadian politics is so complicated. Believe it or not but I actually understand American politics better then my own country’s.

What, for provincial? Or for federal?

Federally:

Liberal Party of Canada
Canadian Alliance...I mean...Conservative Party of Canada
New Democratic Party
Green Party of Canada
Bloc Québécois
Canadian Action Party
Christian Heritage Party
Communist Party of Canada
Libertarian Party of Canada
Marijuana Party
Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada
Progressive Canadian Party
Natural Law Party of Canada

Looks like a fast-food menu, to me.

Two-party politics looked good for a split-second, there. :)

No thanks.

The Communist Party is truly the "anchovies" of political condiments.

Not much call for it anymore. ;)

Sure.

The inclusion of such parties provides our Canadian friends with comic relief at election time; would that we had similar sensibilities here in the U.S.-I really think we could use a few more laughs over the upcoming election season.

True enough, Hank, but that's just a simple majority of us laughing, as the Dems would never laugh at themselves.

We need a party with a more universal appeal, I think.

The "Kegger" party; something like that. ;)

Rat- I have vague memories of that which you speak; it was an appropriately named confab, as I remember. :P

The Party (http://www.omrlp.com/) is still going strong, however Screaming Lord Sutch had a certain "Carisma" about him... that left the opposition candidates looking the twits :)

I could have sworn that the Democrats got the Majority of the votes last time, and ive always found Conservatives the ones unable to laugh at themselves...

....actually, they nominated Bush last time to stand...so that comment falls down flat.

My Appologies...

RF three recounts later and Bush still one. Get over it Al Gore lost, and for which I am thankful everyday.

Irrespective of Florida (The Gore Exception)...

Who won the popular vote?

ie "The Majority"?

Rat-

Bush won Florida outright, as I have said many times previously.

As to why a pure majority of the popular vote is not sufficient to win a Presidential election, please do a bit of reading:

http://usinfo.state.gov/dhr/democracy/elec...ct_college.html (http://usinfo.state.gov/dhr/democracy/elections/elect_college.html)

As you will see, the Electoral College was instituted in what was certainly one of the Framer's first steps to incorporate "fairness" into our Constitution.

I never brought any election result into the conversation... the subject was "Simple Majority".. ie Popular Vote.

Democrats have that... ie they are the majority...

I will agree with you however, in that the Republicans are simple ;)

I certainly didnt mean to upset y'all :P

interesting theory, can't see bombing though even with the hardest right wing government, certainly trade would go downhill and mrs oldlady wouldn't be allowed to make her anual prescription drug smuggling run to be able to afford her medicne

Actually, as it is illegal to buy Canadian drugs in the United States, you'll have to pay a smuggling fee. Hopefully you'll understand.

Oh that reminds me of something I always wanted to know. Is there a health insurance system in the U.S?

Canada: Health services (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomer/welcome/wel-06e.html)

Health insurance means that you don't have to "pay" directly for most health care services. They are paid for through your taxes. When you use these services, you simply present your Health Insurance Card.
