Crash Logger?

well suddenly my favourite game bf1942 started crashing only hours abo for unknown reasons. it dosnt give me an illegal process or a error it just goes back to desktop. my question is that is their some sort of crash logger that will tell me what happened so i can fix it. not just for bf but for all programs?
