I mean wtf?
Two years ago i buy a
2ghz,256ram,64videoram Laptop

i just downloaded
FarCry & Singles Demos..And i cant play them.

I know Why they wont play (yes i have updated, drivers etc)
but
whats the Point?
Upgrade your pc, buy a new one etc etc
it will be outaded anyway. Its an endless circle.

The Gaming industry obviously needs the best for its programs.
where the hell do they expect us to get the money from anyway?

What do they expect of us?

They should give HardWare Upgrades with Every Game

or else whats the point?

even the best alienware is going to be outdated in 2 years, I believe that's a scientific law (I'm serious.) But the point is, that...there is no point, games are here to waste our time and money, and they're bad (in more than one way) for us, but we fucking need them :D.

I suggest the best way to keep a pc upgraded is to buy a strong cpu and mid-range cards, that way the process of upgrading does not cost as much as it's costing me .

And if you don't buy the alienware you might just have the money to upgrade as well ;)

I just buy games that were released 4-5 years ago. They cost nearly nothing (thx bargain bins  ), they still look good, and they'll run on any decent machine.

Just wait till 2008, pick up FarCry for $4, and play it on your "outdated" P5 4.8 Ghz with 2048 MB RAM and a 512 MB gfx card. :P

I believe you're touching on Moore's Law, which states that the number of transistors per square inch on the intergrated circuits of a chip would double every 18 months. :)

However, development goes at such a pace nowadays that it isn't even 18 months between doubling

If you're tired of upgrading, just get a new console. Just need one of those every 4-5 yrs til they come out with a better one. Or just stop playing.

2008? I've got 2GB of RAM, and 512MB graphics cards are round the corner. 4GHz (or at least rated that much equivelant) will be around late 2004 early 2005.

This is retarted. The reason we need better hardware is cuz games reqiure better stuff because they look better and have more features and stuff. They shouldnt give hardware away. Plan your buying of hardware carefully so you get a good deal that will last a while.

I dont know about the whole "2 years outdated". You could have bought a 128mb video card 2 years ago, and its still miraculously awesome today.

agreed, gotta be smart with youyr thinking.

long time ago, probably like a year and a half or so lol, if you were to buy a geforce fx5200, all games out till now run on it fine, you could even have upgraded it.

But if you were stupid and went for ati, the 9200, then the newsest games dont run on it at all, cause it doesn't have directx 9 support.

Again now, if you buy a new vidoe card, want it to last, x800 is a bad choice the nvidia 6800 card has pixel shader 3, which the x800 doesn't...

see what i mean?

Has it ever occured to you they're not fully using the hardware ? It's a *lot* easier to just up the specs rather then optimise the code, but with a little thought and effort you can get "outdated" hardware to do some pretty impressive stuff.

Example ? The Game Boy Color. Running of what was essentially a fifteen-year-old Z80, it still had full-motion video, hi-res graphics and even rudimentary 3D. Why ? Because the developers had to squeeze out every last drop of horsepower.

all of u are right if u guyz bought a fx5200 2 years ago it sitll would hav been good...

anywayz my point is ummm go buy a 9800XT and dont upgrade for atleast 2 years  ;)
