a format and choosing new installation is always best when installing a new OS, in my experience.

put it in, resart pc, boot from cd, in instalklation choose to format your current partition and install XP corp.

Best way, upgrading form home to pro i don't think works. might, but just format it's more reliable.

Good luck. Remember to use that cd key I PMed you, if you don't you'll have trouble getting SP1 or SP2 to install. ;)

anyway, ya that is why it didn't need you to put in a key is because it is built into the cd (sorta lol).

so with teh real xp cd you will need to.

It will ask you to authenticate it, asking for name, etc. If you're not connected to the internet, or choose not to register, XP will only last for 30 days.

Why is Corporate better than Professional?

All you said is irrelevant to corp edition.

As i've told champ so many times (lol), the corp version doesn't require registration or activation.

Windows XP Corp/Pro are the same thing. It is just that "corp" version use a VLT (Volume License Key) to avoid activation. These keys are normally used in a corporate setting were many computers have Windows XP installed on a dally basis thus the name “Windows XP Corp”

ROSSCO is 16? :o ... anyways, I'm 17... YA LIL' BASTARD!,

I have another "relevant question" Can I reformat C drive without affecting my smaller E drive (no proggies, I use it for downloading) so that way I can back up everything there, rather than burning a shitload of discs (200 gig HD's have their dissadvantages ) I tried this before a long time ago with win98 and it destroyed all my hard worked telnet dark forces/duke nukem 3d-age warez  (those were the days)

And you're saying XP corp don't need no daggun acti-key (so you're sure I can get SP 2??) and by-the-by please PM me a CD key for corpt :D I'm gonna go get it now b4 bed-time .

If you're answers are what I'm hoping for I will finally upgrade to XP!

lightshow
06-25-2004, 08:01 PM
Yea you can leave your E: intact and just install on your other drive. As long as the both have the same file system (NTFS or FAT32) then you'll be good.

That's what I do, hhaha but I accidently chose the wrong drive in an xp pro install so it installed it to my backup hard drive and I had to uninstallit, and well it went on for hours and hours.

Just pick the right drive at install :D
