Not a dig, just a curiousity:

Why would someone bother to queue a file that they can dl immediately by making a quick trip to the project's homepage?

It's not that I'm laughing at thisiswhoweare for providing the hash, just that his offer prodded the question. Can't count the number of times I have gone through my queue and seen requests for items like AdAware, eMule Plus, SpyBot, etc. I'll send a quick PM with a link to each homepage when I see these requests but most people ignore and simply remain in queue. Always something I found odd.

cos at the time of release the other mirrors didnt have it up yet. Downloading it from me would have been quicker. I got it from homepage @1-2KB, my upload is 10KB :)

why is it, I can't download the installer? everytime I click on one of the mirrors I don't see anywhere to d/l the file??
one mirror actually took me to michigan U. I doubt they are hosting the file. I could be wrong I guess, it happened once before.

for a totally new installation I want the installer, right?

might sound like a stupid question, but I've never used emule before

you can use the binary files too if you want, the installer just makes it easier for you to install it where you want. Binary has all the files you need, you just need to extract it manually and move the folder where you want it to be and use it.

Didn't actually expect an answer; was just thinking out loud.

Besides, as I said, my thoughts weren't really directed specifically to your post, rather your post prodded them. I always have folks queuing files like this from me that are so easy to dl directly. Just made me wonder if folks trusted a queue more than a dl mirror? Or maybe they just have more patience than I do. I'm not going to wait an hour in a queue for something I can dl in a minute. (Hey, I might even forget why I queued the file an hour later. Short term memory is not my strong suit. :P )

you asked i answered :P

also when downloading faster, if you already have emule taking up bandwidth, you'll just slow your mule down. Adding to the queue uses less and helps keep speeds up.
Also v few people check the homepage and most likely get updates through the network which can end up with a fake version instead.
