How can it be so cheap with all the specs? I've been looking for a gaming pc and thought dell would do , but then saw this and thought , for this price it hast to be missing something. I can install XP for free btw , do gaming pc lack basic computing things?

Doesn't come w/monitor, cheap under powered RAM, cheap mobo, cheap case & PSU, bad sound, cheap spkrs & etc.

All you got is a good CPU. Everything else is cheap under powered shit that will suck the life & capability of that good CPU.

I built my PC with all my parts from newegg.com

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (300)
ASROCK 754 Mobo...very nice mobo, im speechless with 5.1 audio 8 usb ports (80)
Geforce4 MX440 64mb....I'll upgrade this later (40)
Raidmax 868 black case with 420 watt PSU and fans (40)
msi dvd-rom (20)
sony floppy drive (10)
80 gig harddrive (60)
512mb kingston RAM 3200 400mhz (80)

TOTAL: around 650 bucks

Come on, u cant beat that deal
buying something like that will leave you money left over to get a sweet video card or dvd-rw drive

Or just go with a athlon xp 2500+ barton and overclock the shit out of it with a good mobo....if you do that your whole pc will be under 500 dollers with a VERY good video card

Remember people, build your own PCs.....it is cheeper

Man, people are so dumb (no offence).
You all (not really all, but some) think that just having high video memory makes the card good...a radeon 9800xt wioth 64mb of ram, even 32mb or lower than that, would still EASILY outperform an mx440 with 128mb of ram. ;) It's the architecture of teh card, the speed of the GPU, that meks a video card good.

Yes, what is so great about the computer. It is terribly overpriced. How do you think 256 mb of ram is good? Does it even say how much the graphics card is? Terrible computer, i saw a sweet one at Staples, 120 GB hdd, P4, 64mb graphics, 512 ram up to 1gb, 2 PCI slots, usb, pci. Monitor included. And it was on sale for 400$.

ya, it does, it's a radeon 7500...POS card, if u are wondering about memory on the card, it's most likely 64mb, could be 128mb but i highly doubt it, even if it was the card would probably be slower with the more memory anyway...

Abe,

Why the high end CPU?
Not planning on clocking the rig?

In any event I would replace the WD HDD unit with a Seagate, even if you you must spend more. The Seagate is MUCH quieter.

The PSU does look a bit dodgy.
It is bundled with the case...both for $30, how good could it really be? That claimed 400w output only happens when both you AND it are dreaming.
You'll have to do better.
Big July 4th sales coming up, shouldn't be hard to find a name brand unit for a good price.

that good a cpu isn't needed to run those games...well WOW im not too sure about, might be a good idea, but halo has very low requirements, my PC runs it very well at 1024x768 on all high settings with the highest aa and af i could set it too...still around like 35fps...

in the PC market, you get quality if you pay for it. just because its "cheap" doesn't mean its "good" if anything it usually means the direct opposite. you want an AMD64 system? i suggest spending no less then $1000. if you can't afford that then lower your aim. with your budgetting and how you pick things your more liable to get your PC home then have something break a few weeks later. no good 512stick of DDR400 is going to run 70 dollars. no quality effiecient 400w PSU is going to cost 40 dollars. also a 5200 wont get you anywhere but low settings on any games coming out soon.

Abe,

It's not about the quantity of watts, it's about the quality of the PSU.And you won't get a high or even mid quality PSU for $29.99 - Case included. You'll get a POS PSU.And when you get a POS PSU, the other hardware components in your system might become screwed up POS too, in future.

Dray_04

Why do they sell 3200 you say?

Most people, companies etc do not intend on overclocking their PC's to obtain a decent spec'ed machine.

Whereas enthusiasts who are usually poor... like me, would get the 2500+ and overclock it to 3200 speeds B)

As long as you have decent cooling (in this case - a standard heatsink and Artic Silver would work) then Overclocking can be as easy as pie.

It can damage your system if you dont take care.

Follow the pinned guides if you have any queries about OC.

p.s take it slow

Damage?...probably not. It can be argued that the unit life may be shortened, but you won't have the CPU long enough to tell probably.

Use more power?...oh yes, almost certainly. And the more you clock the more important the stability and cleanliness of the power you are supplying becomes.

Get hotter?... again, yes. Sadly. How extreme you get dealing with this is a matter of personal taste. Lightly modified stock systems all the way to extreme solutions have been applied to combat the heat. Up to you.

Also I found this case which is an antec , 350w

That's a good case. But checkout the Antec SLK3700AMB. Think it's on sale for $64 delivered. Use your own judgement. But that's my case + 1 120mm Antec case fan for the front. :)

h**p://www.dol.gov/esa/minwage/america.htm

The Federal minimum wage in the USA is $5.15/hour.
I stand corrected. :)

Its $6.75 where I am, California.
its $7.15CDN here in Ontario ;) [/b][/quote]
And that is like 2 cents american. So i think we win.

7.15 CAD = 5.31224 USD

We loose. John Kerry wants to make minimum wage $7.75
