Well my uncle said he'd get me some ram for my comp and ide like to know the highest type of ram my comp can run (DDR)(pc2100,pc2700) ect. Me and ROSSCO_2004 have discussed this awhile back but ide like to ask every1 to make shure i get that fastest ram possible for my computer. Here is a Link (http://www.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard/Products/Products_GA-8SIML%20(Rev%202.0).htm) to my motherboard. You guys can take a look at that. This (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1064603551726&skuId=5958868&productCategoryId=cat01169&type=product) is the ram i would like to get and i know it wouldnt run and its full potential but would it be worth while getting? and how much of overall speed increase would i get?

The board you have supports PC2100 RAM. That's 266MHz DDR memory. Anything faster than that is a waste of your money. The only way you could get faster performance than that would be to replace the motherboard.

One can vote and the other can't buffer.

Oooooh, I am sooooo sorry.

What if it should turn out that Ross does know everything?

Boy, would your face be red.

Well you do have a bit of a problem with certain spellings, but then again, would a deity be concerned with trivia like that?

The jury is still out.

Unbuffered has a higher latency, therefore slower to react, but the difference would hardly be noticed in realworld apps and stuff like that. (google it for more info).

Registered\ECC ram is error checking ram. Some althlon fx motherboards, and im sure other ones too, require this memory. It is a little slower, so not recomended for gaming PCs, but is usually a must for high-end servers. ;) (again u can google this and find tons of info)

Isn't Google (http://xtremods.com/vbulletin/showthread/t-5938.html) amazing? (http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/products/specs/Ram_Guy_Reg_Unbuffered.pdf)
