I need an instant messenger that can communicate with AOLs AIM. I'd prefer not to install the one from them (AIM) because there's too much advertising, etc...
What can I get to replace it?

Thanks

Miranda IM.
It's what I've been using since I escaped the evil clutches of AOL.

Internet.News uses Miranda IM, its a cut down version of about every Im software compact into one no installed needed program.

actually I was thinking about Dead Aim.
I really have no need for integrated additional clients (such as Yahoo / ICQ, etc...).

Now I just have to find me a version of it.

Dead Aim is good, I've tried it. Also, if you just want to get rid of adds and stuff, you could try the Aim Ad Hack. I think there's a version on suprnova.
