just a wild guess, but I'm thinking something's wrong with one of your IDE ports or devices.

once windows does load, are you having problems accessing a specific drive? like a hard drive or cdrom?

Nope, drives work fine.

Both my dvd +/- rw and cd-rw work fine.

My hdd's also. I can transfer files back and forth on both of them perfectly.

Could it be a problem with the atapi drivers?

Quite possibly. I'd also check to see if the IDE cables are properly plugged into the mobo, just in case...

I shoulda mentioned I have 2003. But my friend has been having a problem like this but different. When he logs on as a certain user, WINLOGON.EXE takes up 100% of the cpu. Takes around as long as mine to load but he cant use his pc cause it continues to use 100%. Ive tried diff antivirus programs, ad-aware, spy seeper, and 3 or 4 diff ad/spyware programs. Defragged the hdd 2 times using a different user. Disabled all items during startup.

The weird thing is that it only happens for the one user, the other 3 are fine. Ive tried the things above for both his and my system but they dont work at all.

Thanks for any other help anyone can provide.

Did you recently run windowsupdate, or maybe have automatic updates running?

I have also beenhaving problems like this, but find that if i end "explorer.exe" from taskmanager during boot, then create it again, it boots almost fine...

my startup prgorams don't open. <_<
primary monitor keeps changing every other startup to my TV. <_< <_<
resolution changes every startup to either 800*600 or 1024*768. <_< <_< <_<

I can't figure this out.

I have no viruses, no spyware, nothing new running on my computer, have tried taking off pretty much everything i have installed, including reinstalling video drivers many times, to version 56.72, 61.11, and thel latest omega drivers.

so many problems, only thing i can think of is that there have been a lot of windows updates recently.

I think tommorrow morning im gonna format. :(

Im gonna format mine in alittle bit. Just need to wait for my sis to bring over my damn dvd+rw she's had for 2 weeks <_<

Rossco, you think its worth it to get Windows XP MCE? I have it but not sure if it would be worth putting on.
