I've been using K-Lite for years and have never noticed 95,000 users online. Whats happening? Everybody scared of the RIAA these days? I have nothing I can download! People, come back!

It dropped that much?

Last time I bothered to use Kazaa, there were about 2.5 million users connected. The most I've ever seen was a little over 4 million. So maybe more people got sick of dealing with the flood of files that were corrupted, misnamed, or had bad quality.

Have you tried using the other P2P programs? If not, you might want to do so. ;)

I am stuck around 80,000 - 90,000 mark.... I Only got 2 mill twice so far. That could be just a fluke....

I think the end is near... :o  :o

Or maybe this is K-lite forming it`s own network now... :P :D

Hi friends

Last night (western europe time) it was over 3 mill users. Suddenly it dropped to only around 90 000. This morning it was only around 75 000 user. Then I did Jump Supernode, and the number of users popped up to well over 2 mill, which is normal this time of the day. I'll bet it will be 3 mill as usual tonight again. It's around 3 mill every night since quite some time ago.

So, is Kazaa dying? Not at all!

(But there seem to be a lot of "the death of Kazaa is near now" from some people every time something that can be interpreted as negative happens... Why? Well, I don't know, but they apparently have their reasons)

Bottom line: We should not put too much trust in the estimate of number of users online that Kazaa is showing.

(I'm running Kazaa Lite 2.43)

well a majority of kazaa users put out fakes/Virii :(
most people have migrated to better apps :)

You know what I think? I think Kazaa did something to block Klite users. I was thinking about forking over the $30.00 for Kazaa, but I couldn't find anywhere on the site where it said the pay version was spyware free.

I think you should, its always the people who pay that get the better service

You know what you should do?

Go down your local high street to what's called a "Record Shop". They have loads of music there recorded on things called "Compact Discs", which are small flat silver things that you can just take to the counter, and just like.. pay for immediately, then you can listen to them as soon as you get home.

No more fake files, waiting to find more sources, waiting for downloads to complete, and no fear of being caught by the RIAA..

It's genius! <_<

To be perfectly honest, I rarely download music anymore. Right now I would love to get this season of 24 so I could watch it again. My collection of legitimate CD's is complete enough, I guess.

I remember reading an old article from Slyck news (http://www.slyck.com/news.php?story=339) about that. So if this is the case, that may be why the numbers are down so much for you Kazaa Lite users.

For those who are still using some version of Kazaa Lite, you could try Kazaa Lite Resurrection (or just move on to other p2p apps). ;)

wierd things with number of users online have be happening for about 48hrs. when i connect i see 89,000 or 99,000, or 78,000 etc. jumping supernodes helped only once - boosted it to 2.5million. but then it drops to the low 90,000 again.

I got 2.8 million now and seems to stay. It seems to be back (for now). :)

I have a major problem

Im using Kazaa Lite 2.4.3 When i search results take longer to b displayed ok 4get that
The problem is When a search a file there are many sources for that file sometimes upto 15-20 but in the traffic it says more sources needed how come???
Is this the end of Kazaa????? cauz when i went to Kazaa lite website (da original website www.kazaalite.host.sk ) it says that emule is the best filesharing on the internet 2day!!! (i could not download n e thin with for 4 days!!) I tried soulsek its even worse??? Does n e one know how to get a better program ?? or why is kazaa dieng???

I would like to propose that the people who made kazaa lite its the best in handling and not complicated IF THEY CAN make kazaa lite intergrate with other sharing programs together it will be very good all of them share !!!!! godd idea hah!!!

kazaa lite has no adware!! but y users are becoming less????

If you don't have adequete Anti-Virus software, then staying away from fastrack isn't going to help you. Kazaa is still the best for old videos and music.

I just think this anamoly is only affecting 2.4.3 users. Can someone using 2.6 klite confirm this problem?

I use KLR007, for the past few days it will connect to 2.5 million and then drop down to 75000-90000. We are being locked out people!

We are all aware that money is the answer to everything,(unfortunately)but I believe the immense popularity of p2p software that enables one to "trade" rather than buy is indicative of people being just plain sick and tired of using that not so easy to come by cash(for most people anyway)to buy a software or music or whatever cd only to find out that it's crap.People have a power that they don't have in the "real" world when it comes to buying things.I can't go to a computer store and take a computer for free, bring it home and use it for three months and then bring it back and say I don't like it and walk out without another word said. But I can and do do that with software. How many times do we,on a daily basis get ripped off by merchants, getting told one thing and afterwards when we say "but I thought you said I could.....",only to be told that we must have misunderstood.I say.............f**k em.The bill gates of the world have made enough off our backs, now were just exploiting a loophole in this relatively new world known as the internet. It won't last forever people, they will figure something out to stop the financial bleeding. So suck it all up,every last byte, cause the day will come when we see the end of this.Every new frontier has its' lawlessness. We are in the Wild Wild electronic west,my freinds. But they'll catch up.Luckily though hanging won't be the punishment this time around. :D

Maybe Sharmen Networks is finally taking action against Kazaa versions based on KMD2.02. (As in kazaa lite K++, resurrection, tools...). Does anyone know if this is happening with K-lite 2.6. Cause that is based on kmd2.6 and so isnt an older version of kmd. :(

EDIT: yeah, k-lite 2.6 has the same problem. Jumping supernodes i got as low as 70,000 and as high as 2,400,000. <_<

Flaboy
07-05-2004, 08:13 PM
It's not only happening on the different K-lite versions, it's also happening on regular Kazaa. If Sharman's doing something to knock-out K-lite, they're shooting themselves in the foot because it's affecting their own product.

people....this is not kazaa dying....i've had this situation all u needa do is goto ur kazaa lite screen, click on file -> jump supernode, keep jumping until u find the 2 million one, or w/e that is alot of numbers, then youll be ok...MODS this is the solution, not KLITE dying so u can plz lock now...since no more discussion is needed

This problem is as old as P2P sharing and it will always adjust to the expected population level in time. If you don't want to wait then jump supernodes as suggested.

You can always try a little test I did when it first happened to me - search for something popular and see what you get. I got the kind of results I expected from the normal population so I didn't panic.

The RIAA are not after you - mthey want the download for commercial gain gang.

Sharman wouldn't have a product without the KLiters as we have a large slice of their available files.

Bill Gates is more concerned about anti-trust cases than us.

The real worry guts are the Telcoms and other ISPs who don't like the amount of their networks that are taken up by 24/7 downloaders.

yonki
07-06-2004, 10:57 PM
This happens because Sharman is trying out the new protocol with better hashing and partial file sharing. Hopefully in a few weeks will have FT with no fakes and faster download for new files :D

I just made that up, but it could be a possible explanation.

For the last couple of months K-lite 2.4.3 has been useless on my pooter. Even when I try to download very popular MP3s with loads of sharers and a fast ETA the program drags its feet, searching for more sources etc etc. I have repeatedly just given up. Then today, I noticed the huge apparent drop in numbers online.

I am willing to try jumping nodes, but suspect that the problems above will persist.
Any suggestions for a fix please? Alternatively which free P2P could I switch to?

TIA
