Macromedia's software is just as, if not more, intrusive and annoying than Real or Quicktime software. is it possible to make a Macro Alternative with some options...like disable flash, maybe a 'lite' mode that only loads the menus but doesnt play swf's and some more controls over its functions. Just an idea...from a dude that hates flash ;)

There once was a Flash Alternative on the Test Builds Site. I have found some info about it in my saved Internet pages:

Flash Alternative 0.10 (642 Kb)
Release Notes:
Flash Alternative will allow you to play Flash files (.swf) without having to install the official Macromedia Flash Player. It also supports Flash content that is embedded in webpages. The Flash Browser plugin supports both Internet Explorer and Netscape.

I remember that macromedia had released a stand-alone flash player.
