View Full Version : Please Help Me Cast The Forum Movie!

Inspired by a topic in Bookworld, I want to take this online book and make a movie of it.

I need your casting talent to help find well known actors and actresses to portray our forum members in a pointless and completely self-indulgant documentary about our little world here.

You may cast yourself or others.

Try and find actors that best capture the "essence" of a poster or who simply looks like that person.

Don't just cast Jpol as Peter Falk in response to his avatar, his personality is completely different. Give it some thought. If you could be arsed, at all.

My creativity is a little low right now, so I will add to this as I get ummmm...... "inspired", if you will.

J2K4- James Earl Jones (http://www.artoosnews.com/artoosautos/jej2.jpg)- For the way the actor carries himself and I know J2 would love to play with a voice like that.

Clocker- bruce dern (http://www.fantafilm.it/Attori/DERN.JPG)- for appearance and the fact that they are both a little touched and fiesty.

Fugley- Marty Feldman (http://www.traversino.com/joe_maini_website/default_files/marty_feldman.jpg)

Biggles- Kramer from Seinfeld. Would be a great juxtaposition of demeanor and physical appearance.

Sam4-Dudley Moore (http://www.saunalahti.fi/~frog1/mugshots/moore.jpg) fairly obvious.

Jpol-Mary Lou Retton (http://www.hooxcards.com/products/marylou.jpg)- this may need revision.

No, you get Shelley Duvall.

Not beacause you look like her but because you have a history of picking the wrong guy.

Hobbes-

Bruce Dern as Clocker would be a bit too, ah...frenetic, I think.

Clocker presents as possibly the most physically (and, to a great extent, emotionally) languid person I know.

More of a John Malkovich type.

I am very pleased with my new screen personna, thank you very much.

J'Pol? (Rowan Atkinson, in Blackadder mode, of course).

And yourself: Can we somehow meld Leonard Nimoy and Peter Sellers?

I'm thinking of a kind of "Dr. Strangelove on quaaludes" quality.

I will defer to you on the best assessment of Clocker. You have a more complete data set. Perhaps a fusion between Bruce Dern and a three toed-sloth would be spot on.

Sloths are slow-moving solitary animals, which live their lives in the canopy of the forest. Their difficult cellulose-rich diet means that they need complex stomachs to help digest it, and they also have very low metabolic rates and reduced muscles to exist on a low-energy diet. They only descend the trees once a week to urinate and defecate, and communicate through scent.

John Malkovich is too self absorbed and vain for my taste.

As for myself, I question the logic of your suggested fusion. I see myself as more of a George Carlin-type skeptic.

I agree whole-heartedly with your self-assessment.

Another option might be Lewis Black, unless you reject him also on the basis of his looks.

I don't look alot like James Earl Jones, but, there you have it: if James Earl is willing, so am I.

Clocker's demeanor is Malkovich, albeit without the snobbery; Clocker is very engaging.

lilmiss-

Are you at all familiar with Loni Anderson's character Jennifer Marlowe from WKRP in Cincinnati?

Jan Smithers in the role of Bailey Quarters far outshone her, at least in my mind.

Kind of the same way discerning gentlemen preferred Maryanne to Ginger on Gilligan's Island.

In other words, I meant it as an extreme compliment. :)

Gemby's remark was ill-chosen. ;)

What about Mae West and that other female wit Dorothy (I forget her second name) there must be appropriate characters for them.

My bad Biggles.

I thought my reference was so internationally obvious that it did not need a link.

Live and learn.

I will give you a picture, but unless you have seen Kramer in action on Seinfeld, it will be less than satisfactory.

How's about, ah....let's see.....gee, Bo, I don't know... gimme some ideas, everybody?

I gotta go out and eat some chinese to replenish my creativity.

Perhaps Hobbes could resume his duties and lend a hand?
Chris Eubank?

I was gonna say Will Smith, but will defer to your choice, Biggles; we were on similar tracks.

Eubanks is clearly the better pugilist, though I had no idea Bo was feeling so aggressive these days.

Bo, you say that you are black and I know that you make yourself invisible on this forum from time to time so....

You will be played by the black guy with the bleached hair, Kel Mitchell

From the movie "Mystery Men", This dubious superhero thought he could turn himself invisible.

Being that I am only new to this place I'm not sure if I have earned the right for anything more than a walk-on role.

However, as a member of the Lounge Footy Team I am sure in time I will be able to take a more active role in the movie.

Government help, excellent!
I shall request the 65 page form and fill it in asap.

One question tho, if they make an error and I end up with more help than I am entitled do they expect you to pay it all back? I could end up with a 2 year repayment plan if they overpay me with witty comments.

Actually, forget that question, this is government help I am requesting isn't it, the chances are there will be very little in the way of wit to anything they give me anyway.

sparsely doesn't ask for much, does he/she?

No cut of the residuals, DVD sales or foreign distribution?
What sort of trailor will sparsely require on the set and are there any particular colors of M&Ms that are unacceptable?

If you end up with excess witty comments I suggest you sell them on the black-market; they aren't worth much (due to their origin, you see?), but you might get enough to throw a small party for the cast. :)
