Question:

I'm trying to look up my friends wedding pictures online but the site is stating that I need to enable cookies. It states:

"Select the browser menu Tools , then submenu Internet Options... , and finally select the tab for Security . Click on the each appropriate content zone and then click on the Custom Level... option. Under the Cookies heading be sure to select Enable , then click OK twice to save your changes. "

But there is no 'cookies' heading. What do I need to do?? :( :helpsmile:

As you appear to be on IE, then maybe if you click the [privacy] tab and lower the bar it may work

I've tried that before, doesn't work for me. Would Zone Alarm be doing it?

As a temporary measure you could just use FIREFOX (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) although you may keep it or dump it after

This is what happened when I tried firefox. Couldn't bring up any webpages at all. Back to square one.

instead of the security tab in the internet options of IE, click the privacy tab.

then click the edit button >> add the homepage of your friends wedding pictures site to the appropriate box >> click 'allow' >> click OK twice

should work now. if not maybe try posting this in software world ;)

dunno what you're going on about there but open up a browser (IE) window and hit the tools menu, then the internet options menu. then follow what I wrote above.

I should be able to access those same options by right clicking the IE icon. That's how I typically make adjustments. Why has it changed??

tools/Options/Cookies -> Enable Cookies

instead of the security tab in the internet options of IE, click the privacy tab.

then click the edit button >> add the homepage of your friends wedding pictures site to the appropriate box >> click 'allow' >> click OK twice

Doesn't work, or at least not in this situation.

tools/Options/Cookies -> Enable Cookies

Been there, done that a long time ago.

I assure you I'm not. Try it.(If you haven't installed Firefox obviously)

Someone take a look here. Tools>int. opt.>privacy>advanced. I have the box UNchecked(Override auto cookie handling). Is that correct?

manker
07-08-2004, 02:17 AM
If none of those things work then it isn't your browser's cookies that are stopping you accessing the site. the advice I told you to follow tells your browser specifically to allow cookies from that site.

It must be the website itself which isn't working properly.

We've been looking at ways to bypass the cookies. But look at my original post again. Am I just missing an option or are they telling me incorrect instructions??
