i wouldn't use soulseek if I were you...it's full of bugs and the server is always down. that's right, they have only one server and it's down 75% of the time. the qeues are horrendous, and the so-called "community" they've developed is nothing more than a bunch of petty, foul-mouthed electro-junkies intent on wasting bandwidth with their over-sized 320KBPS mp3's.

Soulseek :D :D :D
second would be K-lite
Actually, Direct Connect and Soulseek are best for finding rare stuff. Both are pains in the asses to use but you find nice, wonderful things. :wub: But if you wanna find popular songs then Ares is a good option.

I don't know. The most reliable is probably WINMX but the selection is really crappy.

i dont know if you guys have seen this b4 but i have found some realy good stuff on this program
Fastmp3search (http://www.fastmp3search.com/)
It uses only http to search and although the results can be a bit weird sometimes i find it pretty good and quick overall

Ares is way the best I have used.
It is what K Lite should have been if they were not dependent on Kazaa in the first place.
It looks and feels like K Lite but has some very nice features. And it is fast and has lots of files.
Lots of songs and no fakes as yet.
regards
Digby
PS I hope they tighten up on users joining to sort of vet any clowns with fake files !

I used Ares, it was pretty good, but I just went with the safe stuff just in case. And yeah, those f*cking fake files, they're pissing me off. I overloaded my computer and spent a whole day downloading Scarface to find out that it was just a fake. Bastards.
you can get the new releases from a number of sources, but i still go to the good old k-lite to find some older rarer songs.

Soulseek = full albums (though you can find them zipped on fasttrack of course)
IRC = anything and everything
K-Lite= if you can weed through the bullshit there are a lot of files out there.
Napster = just kidding....

1: It probably helps if you aren't running a beta.
2: The server may go down, but you can run the dl's you have going anyway, finding new ones is trickier with the server down, but it's hardly down all of the time, 75% my arse.
3: Horrendous queues is something I haven't noticed. It's probably a matter of checking more than one person for the files one wants. There's always people with a slot open somewhere.
4: foul-mouthed? that would be you, and maybe the wee kiddies in the mainstream-rooms.
5: Only person I know that rip at 320 is me, and the people I primarily did the rips for wanted it that way (people I know IRL), and most people have enough hd space to accomodate a few albums @320.
EDits:
Avoid Bearshare, as it contains spyware.
On-Topic: Try IRC as well.

you could always try newsgroups - ive found a couple on there (though i prefer and use soulseek for all my music)
