OK ZLO - you sound like you like some of the 80's thru now classics. here are some of my faves - hope it gets the dl juices flowing. There should be some good files available on the following;
BAND Comments
311 all good, but find The Cure cover "love song"
BRMC all good
SANTANA!!! still sounds good - Carlos is a genius
Dick Dale remember him?
Dire Straits all good - my fav is "water of love"
Echo/Bunnymen all good
English Beat Ya' gotta be lovin' them!
Queens/SA LOVE their stuff - find "millionaire"
Tea Party one of forums favs - try "walking wounded" "Alarum" "paint it black"
T REX oh yeah baby
Tesla they have a recent album out, its great
REM all good
squeeze would not be the 80's without them
Stray Cats all good
John lee hooker - all good
Tool all good
Stabbing Westward - even though they are no more, they did make great music
New Order all good - find their new album "get ready"

Uh....
I really can't think of anything along the same lines as Simon and Garfunkle but here are some suggestions anyway:
The Smiths - All albums from them are great.
John Cale - Paris 1919
Brian Eno - Here Come The Warm Jets
Thomas Dolby - Download Airwaves, I Scare Myself, I Love You, Goodbye.
Fischerspooner - #1
Garbage - Thirteen, Kick My Ass
