I just typed www.google.com into my address bar and got this back http://www.google.com.mx/

I've tried it a couple of times now.

WTF is going on.

You aren't using a Mexican proxy are you?

google auto-detects where your connection is coming from and alters the language accordingly. have you been using a Mexican proxy recently?

damn danb and his flutterfingers <_<

there could be another reason, if you linked to google from a mexican website, then your browser will still refer to that mexican google cookie. fix it by flushing your temp files and cookies.

Thanks for that. I have no idea where the proxy I am using is, but that seems like the likely answer.

I use a proxy server type thing on the PC, so I can change quickly and often if I want. Or not bother depending on what I am doing. It must just be the first time I have chosen a Mexican one.

Cheers for the answers, always learning from you chaps. :)

Do you use firefox JP? There's a handy sitch proxy toolbar where you can store a selection, I think I have 3 or 4 in there at the moment, one click and its changed :D

I use Complete Anonymous Web Surfing.

It grabs proxies from the interweb, grades them for security and speed, allows you to add your own, or web pages which contain them then downloads the details from that page.

It also verifies those which are working and lets you delete (automatically) those which are not.

You can also switch it on and off from the system tray with one click. It works really well, at least in my experience.

Thats sounds pretty good. I use a website which does the testing and grading for you and updates it every few hours.
