For the last few days when people have been sending me files over msn, it has comeup with the slow connection question.

Going to the help site says to open up as many ports on tcp from 6891-6900 (i think it was those, eitherway its 9 ports).

Is this a good idea and will it really speed up file transfer? Obviously talking about big files here over 4MB

i am using a router...any easy way to open 9 ports and then close them just to receive a file?

some routers have applictation triggered port-forwarding...
where you could set those ports to open only when used by an internal program.

I have ports 6881-6999 open for bittorrent, so it opens msn's ports as well i guess, i never have any problems...
