Yes, Im a big Pink Floyd fan. I like David Gilmore's guitar work but I think Roger Waters made the band what it was. I really like Roger Waters solo stuff too. I have seen Pros & Cons of Hitchhiking & Radio KAOS concerts, both from the 3rd row. My favorite Pink Floyd song.........."If"

Pink Floyd are musical geniuses, and yes I love them. I agree, Nirvana themselves were excellent musicians to a degree but Pink Floyd could out-play them I believe (my personal opinnion, others naturally have thier own and entitled to them). Speaking from a technical side in studying music, Pink Floyd also take the biscuit and dunk it into a cup of hot-chocolate with marshmallows :D

Definatly a floyd fan, Syd Barrett's solo stuff too. I'm actually in the middle of doing sound enhancements on "The Vinyl Sessions" right now. Check out the VH1 special....it's in five parts so it's a quick DL. See you on the dark side of the moon

IMHO 'Meddle' is their greatest non-commercial album, and I s'pose Dark side of the Moon would have to be their 1st,and best effort at Pop/commercial music.
I'm also an admirer of poor old Syd's solo stuff, but I respect anyone elses favourites.

If Pink Floyd had retired after The Wall, their reputation would have remained intact - however, they went on and my god they're shit now... RIP the screaming abdabs, RIP.

Gotta love it. Pink Floyd has made some really good stuff.
I like 'em with Roger Waters or without him.
I like Roger Waters albums too, he always got some great players around him. :)
Nirvana was pretty succesfull in 90's, remains to see if they are still known in 2010 or so. Not to diss them or anything but to be as big as Pink Floyd is helluva thing to pull out.
Musically speaking PF gives me more that Nirvana, there's so many details, instruments etc. Thats my opinion, naturally. ;) At the moment my fav is Shine on you crazy diamond.
Pink Floyd has been around just about forever :P , are they still making music ?

Peace:

Im a Pink Floyd fan as well, seen them at earls court and had the time of my life. Seen a coulpe of take off bands and they were good but nothing could match the real deal live (wish they would tour again) stoll got the video of the concert. Fave album has to be dark side of the moon & wish you were here. Cant decide which is the best but both are best heard through top quality headphones with the volume turned right up while stoned, the wall and medal came close but not enough

Pink Floyd - Definitely!

I'm in the process of getting even MORE floyd! This collection called "a tree full of secrets" -- several volumes of rare floyd

I have a ton of their stuff, and I too am trying to get that incredible collection - "A Tree Full of Secrets" It's an 18 Cd Set - Yes - 18 !!! I have much of what is on the set, but it would be nice to have the actual set.... I have 3 of the 18 discs thus far - only 15 to go!!

If you are untested in reading about the Full Set, have a look here: Pink Floyd: A Tree Full of Secrets (http://www.winntia.com/html/boxes/pf-atfos.htm)

And hey marine_aart, what is this:

I don't even wanna listen 2 them, I hate old music, so I think I am going 2 hate pink floyd 2

??? You haven't even given them a listen, and you think you're going to hate them? I may ban you for that remark!!! :P

Enjoy! B)

If it wasn't for the likes of pink floyd etc there probably not be the range of modern music that there is.

Example:- Flaming Lips biggest influence is pink floyd.

New 5.1 dark side is awesome.

Roger Waters was ace live in Manchester last year.

Pink Floyd's (and particularly Syd Barrett's) music was and is some of the most influential music that has shaped the rock music we hear now. Barrett's insistence on playing either two minute songs about gnomes or 14 minute improvisational pieces on stage was not perhaps new (jazz bands jammed interminably live), but it stretched the boundaries of rock music before Sgt Pepper, Jimi Hendrix or The Doors came along. Unfortunately for Syd he couldn't handle fame and the resultant mental problems and subsequent reclusiveness were tragic.
However, his influence on the rest of the band and the way they evolved after his replacement has now become a part of continuing rock history, and like them or not, you have to wonder what Led Zeppelin or Sonic Youth or Queens Of The Stone Age would have been without it.
Syd's story is a sad one, and listening to 'Shine on you crazy diamond' (written about him) is heartbreaking, but what a legacy he has left!
...and in true style, it doesn't interest him.
