View Full Version : Good Idea.

perhaps, a solution would be to create a forum of some type where members can be locked-down.
I've done this on boards before, and several other forums have a similar thingy.
(Think SomethingAwful & FYAD if you go there).
This would be a way to prevent from completely banning someone whose actions were not terribly grevious, but rather, just stupid and annoying.
Just confine them to that one forum for...whatever length of time.

anyway, just a thought.

And a good one.

Shame to be victimised in yet another closed topic.

discuss.

Well I know this is possible with IPB. Make a Group called Forum Idiots or something and only give them access to the lounge and another forum that only they and mods can see where they can beg to be given full access.

Though I don't think this would solve anything. They could always start a new account and use this http://filesharingtalk.com/proxy_servers.php . (kind of ironic huh?)

So adding even more work to the mods/admin is the way to go?

I was raised to accept responsibility for my actions, not to require a babysitter when I cannot act in a responsible fashion.

Besides, many of the people who would be confined to this area primarily hang out there anyway don't they? Hardly seems punishment.

Is that what the mod script told you to say today?

in afterthought, however, this is really no different than being put on moderation...
and seeing how, in this case, the individual tried to circumvent moderation, he would likely have done the same thing were it of a different type (confinement).
I only suggested it in an attempt to find a middle ground & stifle the whiners.
anyway, it's all good.

some people just need a cause, some people jsut need an argument, and some people (like me) just need people to make fun of.
sooooo....carry on. :P

Me too TD me too, but I also accept that this is not the same for everybody and that we perhaps are lucky in that we have never experienced lose of control over our actions, although I find it difficult to beielve that you have never done something that in hindsight you felt inappropriate, I know that I have. I know that we are talking a bout a string of incidents here and not simply a one-off but the principle remains the same.

@ Yogi - not sure how well it would pan out but still a nice idea :)
