Hi Forum.

I have had an address blocked @ work to "chat.yahoo.com" Is there a way to fool my LAN(or network admin) so that I can actually go and chat from work???

any advice would be appreciated.....

Sorry if this is a total noob question( I just dont know the answer)

I guess I didnt mean to put "IP addy"....I guess what I mean is an internet address
has been blocked.........(IP=Internet Provider)

You could try a proxy.

There is also a simple way that will work on some firewalls, try hitting refresh a few times really fast on the page you're trying to view. But i think a proxy would work.

there ya go, http://www.hopster.com Bypasses firewall and proxy. Although, the free version is very slow. You have to pay to get the full speeds. :(

I dunno if they work, but im thinking that if you get them working,
I doubt your netwörk-admin gives you any ice-cream if he finds out.
;)

You might want to check the company policy over on this.

If the company's sysadmin is lazy, he (probably a he) may only be blocking the URL "chat.yahoo.com" and not the real ip address that's used to connect to "chat.yahoo.com".

If you find the real ip address, just use that as the URL instead. :)

Otherwise, you'll have to use a proxy.

In any case, you better know company policy about this or you could get into serious trouble (read: FIRED!) over this.
